Well.. It happened.. He's gone... And I am sad..
My best friend has died of liver failure. I just got the call 15 minutes ago.

There is nothing I can do, he's gone. I've known him since I was 12 and his family moved in across the street from us. We made friends instantly. We went to high school together, he came out to me as a gay man right before we left for college.

we went through relationships together, went to Italy 2 years ago. He was an artist, an intellectual, an activist for gay rights, but mostly a great person and my best friend. :cry:

I am an RN and have been helping guide him through the passage of life... this past few months.

I will miss him so.... sorry... but I just had to post this. I am so SAD. :cry:

If there is anything I can say is...please...PLEASE be an organ donor, you have NO IDEA how much it is needed.

I will now retreat to my bottle of wine. :cry:

5. Condolences on the loss of your dear friend, Texasgal
And bless you for helping him with his passage. That cannot have been easy for you, but what a kind, loving thing for you to do.

:hug: :hug: :hug:

And I agree -- people should be organ donors. I lost my best friend several years ago, also from liver failure. I still miss her terribly.

Thank you for seeing him through those last lonely months, when so many people find "other things" to do rather than confont their mortality. You are really something special. I hope the days ahead are easy on you.

16. Sorry, sweetie. Sounds like your friend lived.
More than can be said for many of us. He's lucky that he had you these last few months for help. I'm sure that he knows he was loved, both by you and by others. Though you're left to suffer, he'll not suffer. As my grandfather's gravestone says, "and there shall be no more pain."

Carry on, and for the record, I've always been an organ donor, and I'd urge others to register to be the same.

Hugs. BIG hugs.

Please be careful with the wine. You never know if a mutual friend the two of you had or the family might need your company later tonight and I'm sure you don't want to be impaired. None of my business but just saying to please take it easy.

18. Thank you Dave..
My first thought was to get completely trashed, but after some thought, I will not ruin my best friends memory like that.

The last time I saw him was 2 days ago, I fed him by mouth, we talked. I KNEW it was coming.... he asked me to be strong. I am trying.... I am trying...

34. my brother was an organ donor. Helped three people.
I'll tell more about it later this evening if you like...
meanwhile, YES! Do be an organ donor! and make it clear before a crisis, when there's enough emotional contention going on much less trying to figure out what your wishes are.
A card or d.l. won;t make it in some states. they've got to hear it from a relative....

38. My dear Texasgal........
My deepest condolonces to you today on the loss of your dear friend.....

Perhaps this little poem that I found on the inside of a Hallmark card might help you.....

"Life is eternal;

and love is immortal;

And death is only a horizon;

And a horizon is nothing

Save the limit of our sight."

I too am an organ donor......:hug:
