Do you feel inspired and/or pressured to be more profound...
...now that you can select your posts to be featured in your journal?

I went through a bunch of old posts of mine, just to include a sample in my journal that gave a decent reflection of what I'm all about.

80% of my posts are either bitching about my office or bragging about my kid.

I know I've had my moments, but I can't find many of them.

I'm trying to just stay natural. I don't want to force out some manifesto post just for journal content. But I'm feeling kind of jealous of Will Pitt and some others.

I think the journals are really cool, and I prefer to just enjoy them and not let vanity get in the way...but I do have a little vanity problem.

How about you? Any similar feelings?

1. I also went to see if I could find any to add
I realized that I have said a hell of a lot of worthless shit in the past three years. I couldn't find *one* thing to put in my journal. So yes, I think I have to start writing some heavy stuff so I can add it in there and feel like an intellect too.

4. There were a few I wanted to add until
I realized there were typos in them. I'm not one of those grammar nazis that cares about little mistakes in posts but I don't want phrases like "Bible weekly Bible" reflecting on me in my journal.

5. I've had nothing "profound" to say
the whole time I've been here, so I am not doing the journal thing.

BTW- CONGRATS on the job!

7. That's a MYTH!
I popularized it, but I believe SoCal Dem was the first.

13. I don't know what the hell to put in my journal
After looking over my post history, I'd have to conclude I'm not really one of those DUers with an "impressive body of work". I do have a large collection of sarcastic comments, however.

14. I used to make good posts
I used to write long insightful responses in my areas of expertise, but lately most of my posts are making fun of LynneSin or flirting with matcom in the Lounge! I don't think that stuff will make for a very scintillating journal.

I guess I'm burned out after the intensity of political involvement I had during the first 4 years of the Bush debacle, and just don't have the energy to spend time composing long thoughtful posts at this point. But maybe the journal will inspire me.

23. Not particularly
I've posted some things that I think (and from the reaction they got, others think) were thoughtful. that's enough.

This is DU. We all post thoughtful things here. If we posted more crap than thoughtful posts, we wouldn't stay.

25. Well, I guess I'm lucky, all right......
I've had a lot of photo threads, and some of those are in my journal.

And of course, now the WHOLE WORLD knows about my story in the Writer's Forum.....I just had to post that first in my journal......

So, no problems for me finding stuff to put there.....and no pressure either!

I feel profoundly blessed that I have this material at my fingertips to post......
