Sigh. Now I have to buy another one, and convince the better half that we should go with Linux this time.

3. Desktop or laptop?

I usually argue against people spending their own money on laptops unless there's a really pressing need for it. For one thing, they can be horribly expensive to fix, and for another… well… this can happen.

A laptop lock wouldn't have done any good.

It walked out of the house one day. We have no idea when, as it was disconnected and sitting in a spare room.

There are a variety of security locks including the basic cable and something that'll make a noise if someone tries to take it.

5. Do not buy a Kensington combo lock, tho.

It clicks when it hits the correct numbers (like the old safe-crackers movies). I can find the combination with my eyes closed really). Just spin and feel the clicks...
