World baseball Classic, USA vs Mexico, elimination game. A Mexican player hits a long fly ball to RF. The ball hits the foul/fair pole about 10 feet up from the wall and Umpire Bob Davidson calls it a double.
WTF!!!!
Anyone see that?

1. These are the same umpires who screwed up the playoffs last year, right?
Need I say more? :)

The USA got a great call in their game vs. Japan, too. Total home job.

7. "Balk-a-day" Bob Davidson isn't an MLB ump anymore?
I did not know that.

8. He was one of the ones that "retired"
Remember that union ploy in 02 or 03? MLB have rehired some (the good one) but have not hired him back because, well, he sucks.

2. Didn't see it, but pretty much it's a home run if it hits the foul pole.
Umps! Harumph!

6. I know the rules on that.
This was not a technical issue or one that may cross the MLB rules and International rules line.
The pole is FAIR in any league or competetion. If a ball hits the pole on a fly, without hitting the wall, its a Home Run.

Ump Davidson is either blatantly giving calls to Team USA, or he cant fucking see.

12. Nope. Same rules Bertha.
Watch ESPN later and view the replay. Then you make the call.

11. According to MLB rules, it's a home run.
It occurs to me that perhaps they're not playing by strict MLB rules, however.

13. How could it be anything else?
Thats what the pole is for. A ball hits it on a fly, ala Carlton Fisk, 1975 World Series, its a homer.
