I'm pissed at my landlord
She came over today to check on some hail damage, and had the nerve to tell my wife she was a bad housekeeper. Our house is not nasty. It may be cluttered, but it's not dirty.

My wife is a full time student, and raising a two-year old. I teach full time, and am a full-time graduate student. We do the best we goddamn can with the time we have.

Not to mention jumping on me yesterday about mowing. When I left last Tuesday, my grass was brown and there was nothing to mow. I got back Saturday to green grass. I'm in parent teacher conferences for the second day in a row, and won't be home until 10:00 or later tonight.

God, I hate our landlord. Fuck her. Fuck her and feed her fish heads.

Thanks for listening.

1. go to your happy place and recite this poem by Tyrone Green
replace him with "her"

Dark and lonely on the summer night.
Kill my landlord, kill my landlord.
Watchdog barking - Do he bite?
Kill my landlord, kill my landlord.
Slip in his window,
Break his neck!
Then his house
I start to wreck!
Got no reason --
What the heck!
Kill my landlord, kill my landlord.
C-I-L-L ...
My land - lord ...
:)

2. Sounds like maybe the hail hit her head...
or maybe she's just a nasty person. Not aware of how to take care of lawns either if she thinks less than one week's green growth in winter is worth mowing.

3. I hated my last landlord so I can understand....
This guy lived on site and was retired (other than being a landlord). He had about 10 mobile homes on his ten acres lot. They were all older models but he thought they were special. He would enter my place while I was at work without notice. He always made comments about my housekeeping habits. He would stop by and knock on the door at unexpected times. The only thing that kept me renting there was the rent being 350 a month with all utilities+ cable included. Living there allowed me to save up a 50% down payment on my home I live in now.

Some day you will be able to own your own home. I felt so free when I no longer had anyone to answer to.

4. I wish she'd come over here...
I'm not a good housekeeper; and I have a cat who has been known to piss on similarly rude assholes...

5. Find out what your rights are where you live.
You might not be obligated to even let her in the door unless there is something inside that needs fixing.

6. I called my lanlady
and told her she was out of line. She had hurt my wife's feelings, and she owed her an apology. She insists that she was in the right, and that our house was 'filthy'. I refused to discuss it any further and hung up.

I have to admit, I halfway expected to come home and find my house dirty, and have to apologize to our lanlady.

However, I came home and found that everything was put away, dishes in the dishwasher, garbage taken out. Some laundry was in a basket on a dinner table (my wife had done a load between classes), and there was a lonely toy truck not in the toybox.

No, my floor wasn't mopped, but it was just daily usage on the floor.

All this, my lanlady classified as 'filthy'. She said we were not keeping her house up to standards 'like we said we would'.

She also told me that when she had kids and was in school, that she could keep it cleaner than that. I said, "I'm sorry if that makes you better than me, but I'm doing all I can." She replied "No, not better, I just work harder." This pissed me off even more.

I don't think anyone looks back, when they're old, and says "I wish I'd spent more time cleaning my house than with my kids."

This woman is a certifiable nutjob. My only concern is that she goes to church/cult* with several of the teachers from my school, and they all share the 'better than thou' attitude. I'm sure she's told them all how 'filthy' I am.

*Note: not bashing Christians here, just noting that this 'particular' church seems to have a cultlike following, and all its members that I have met act a lot like her.

Thanks for listening, again.

Also if anyone has any leads on bad credit home lenders, let me know. My rental history is excellent, but my credit is nicht so güt.

7. Listen Choralscholar
if there was/is nothing physically wrong with the house then she has nothing to complain about it. She was in the wrong!
