I saw Grizzly Man last night
Edited on Mon Mar-13-06 03:00 PM by HEyHEY
That guy was nuts.
And I dont' mean because of how he got so close to the bears. That was an interesting gift he had to connect with them, and it was amazing.
When I say, "nuts," I mean, the way he rants into the camera, he was clearly losing his mind. Anyone who can suddenly summon that much anger in the middle of the wilderness, needs help.

1. He had to have had a death wish to have fucked with bears like that.

2. Yup, wanted to become 1 with nature
too bad he took out another person and a bear doing it. Hurting yourself is 1 thing, hurting others is another.

3. Yep, I hated the woman and the bear were killed, too.

6. Very true
He may have had some form of mental illness where he couldn't measure danger in his head

4. he was a fake, the part where he edits out the woman's presence
and then declares on the camera he is all alone (stranded) with the bears canonly lead one to wonder what other parts were manufactured, doctored or just edited for his benefit.

It is sad he and his girlfriend died, but it shows he really did not KNOW the bears he claimed to know.

5. well...
Technically, the bear that killed him wasn't one of the coastal bears that had become accustomed to his presence.

What killed him was the fact that he was stupid enough to stay in the wild past fall, when bears get increasingly zealous in their hunt to build up fat for the winter. The coastal bears that he had come to know had moved on to hibernate and the "interior" bears moved down the streams in hopes of finding more fish and food to build fat.

Unfortunately for the Grizzly man, the bear instead found a slightly-psychotic man and his poor girlfriend.

7. He left and then went back
even though he knew that "his" bears would have been in hibernation. Stupid thing to do. There was something in the film about his girlfriend not wanting to go back (can't remember how they knew this later), but that he talked her into it.

Strange guy. Strange thing to do.

9. Strange indeed!
And the whole thing about him constructing a fish run to trick the salmon into going upstream before there was enough rainfall to do so was just idiotic. He probably killed more salmon by getting them stuck upstream with nowhere to go than he saved bears.
