How retro are YOU?
I remember watching Star Trek, the very first year it was broadcast. (1966)

I was 6, and you bet your ass the monsters scared the you-know-what out of me. :scared:

1. I'm ALL retro
Doc Martins, Gray Plaid Flannel, T-Shirt, Jeans... it's like the last 11 years never happened, fashionwise.

:D

She's already mad at me for my big mouth. One more lapse on my part and it's pistols at dawn!

So no one will ever know - just you, her, and me :)

20. corduroy went out?
Eeek!

That explains why I can't find them in the stores anymore.

I remember when Levis were in the "Work Clothes" section
of the Department stores. Because, that's where I went to
buy them... Right there with the Dickie's overalls.

14. I'm not so much "retro" as "permanently uncool"
I remember seeing Star Wars (episode 4) in the theater when it first came out. We were living in Japan at the time, so we had to watch it in a Japanese theater, and it was pretty bizarre watching it in English with Japanese subtitles.

Trivia: every time someone in the movie said Chewbacca's name, the audience erupted in laughter ("baka" in Japanese means "moron").

"Superbuggy" the "Blue Falcon" and that show with Jim Neighbors and Ruth Buzzy as aliens lost in space or something. :)

Atari 1600, And the big TV item was HBO which my friend had, it was a separate box that only got HBO.

Oh and we still had a Black and White TV until I was in 2nd or 3rd grade.

24. My younger sister reminded me of "Clackers."
Two hard plastic balls on a string that you held in the middle and had them go up and down.

When they did break, it was usually spectacular! :wow:

My mom got me up just to see it. I was four. It was awesome!

And as for TV...
Used to think my dad didn't really go to the office on Saturdays.
Thought he was slipping out to play Buffalo Bob on Howdy-Doody

31. Three things I remember about Saturday mornings
Edited on Wed Mar-08-06 11:46 PM by Rob H.
1) Schoolhouse Rock (loved it!)
2) The little mini-newsbreaks for kids they used to do between cartoons
3) Three words: "Time for Timer!" (Bonus points if you know what that means :P )

I saw the original episodes of The Electric Company and remember Morgan Freeman as Easy Reader. Rita Moreno was also in it ("Hey, you gu-u-u-u-u-uys!"), as was Bill Cosby. Oh, and Spider-Man. And music by Tom Lehrer ("Silent E" anyone?).

And even though its heyday came and went before I was born, I have tons of surf music. (I was born in '68.)

So basically I guess I'm just a huge dork.
