Cooking really is a talent, one that I don't have.
Who knew that if you used a pan just 1 inch too small that a cake would explode all over your oven?

How come some people don't need precise measurements, they can just throw things together, yet I have a pan just a little too small and I end up with raw, jiggly cake, burnt Angel Food on the bottom of my oven and a smell that just won't go away?

I think I'm going to transition to either a raw food diet or take-out.

1. BAKING powder, not gun powder
That may have been your mistake...

Easiest way to get muffins out of the pan, though...

6. Baking powder? You're giving me too much credit. The cake
came out of a box, all I added was water.:-)

4. You can cook, you just have to
teach yourself those tricks that your mom and dad used or by trial and error.

7. A lot is trial and error. And a lot is enjoyment.
If you don't really enjoy cooking, you'll probably never be very good at it.
You'll be able to prepare edible meals (from scratch), but that's about it.

On the other hand, with all the frozen varieties of really delicious foodstuffs available now, just about anyone can be a more-or-less "gourmet" cook.

There's always carry-out/delivery.
;-)

8. I used to like cooking but my family has such varying
likes and dislikes that it is hard to find something they all like. I am so sick of leaving ingredients out of a dish because someone doesn't like it. Boredom sets in, it seems like all we can agree on is beef and chicken.
