Is it me or is it Rachael Ray?
I made the most disgusting Mac and Cheese last night, I mean it was completely inedible (though my husband and son did eat some because they love me and they were starved). It was a Rachael Ray recipe - are her recipes usually good?

So who puts mustard, cayenne pepper and paprika in Mac and Cheese?

I will admit that I suck as a cook and I will also admit that I didn't put the chicken, broccoli and onions in it but still the only thing that would have changed the taste of the cheese sauce was the onions. Could that really have made the difference between something that really sucked and something that was delicious?

1. Dry mustard powder, I hope.
I pur dry mustard and hot sauce in mine, and it tastes great.

2. No it said dijon mustard not dry mustard. But to be honest I
tried the sauce before I put the cheese and mustard in and it was disgusting then. I was hoping the cheese and mustard would improve it.

8. INTERVENTION!
I'll scream "Yummo!" and "EVOO!" and "Sammies!" in your ear while flashing photos of Ray-ray in front of you... oh, and did I mention the Taser?

5. I don't know who she is except that she has this 30 minute
cooking show (all meals can be done in 30 minutes).

Does she do something other than cook?

13. How does she fill the whole 30 minutes?
She must make several dishes because other than that I can't imagine someone being so slow or disorganized that it would take 30 minutes to make dinner.

22. I thought 30 minutes wasn't much time at all. I can't remember if
she made more than one dish. Maybe it's all the talking.

Although I admit it takes me about 30 minutes to make a salad if I make homemade dressing.

14. A few of her recipes are ok
For the most part though they're pretty bad in my opinion. I don't like things flavored the way she does, and it sounds like you don't either.

I can't even imagine putting those things in Mac and CHeese. If you want it you can put it ontop afterwards, but not in it...eww..

God why much with Mac n' Cheese? It's so easy to make in the first place.

21. My kids love Kraft Mac n Cheese, which I despise. I make
a homemade Mac and Cheese that they think is OK (I happen to love it, but it's not all about me). Anyway I thought trying a new recipe would be a compromise.

Didn't quite work out that way although both of my kids professed their love for my mac and cheese after trying the slop I made last night:-)

IOW, mom please never do that again!

24. Homemade Mac and Cheese
No Kraft boxes in our house. What a waste. Homemade recipe only.

It's our daughter's favorite meal. She eats everything, but she'll eat Mac and Cheese with a bit more gusto.

18. My mum was watching her show
when I was visiting her last year. She was doing some chicken dish on the show that day.

During its preparation she actually said, "and the chicken breasts are perfectly sliced just like they are in nature." I had to leave the room I was laughing so hard.

Had cartoon images of chickens running through log splitters though that's hardly natural. Just couldn't believe she actually said that.

Have never tried any of her recipes though.

Yup, and my hamburgers are made from naturally occurring ground beef, just the way it came off the cow.

come on. . . you know those coyotes and other predators are fully equipped with carving knives and meat grinders. . .aren't they. . . ?

Am tempted to make a blonde joke here but not only are they really inane but also she's not a blonde and you are so I'd better not.

Disclaimer- For the record. . .I could never imagine you speaking any such idiocy my fur & feather loving friend.

20. One recipe was OK
I made a fish stew that she made, and it was OK. I've since tweaked it and it is much better, IMO. Different folks have different tastes.

25. That's true, I just thought it was standard that Mac and Cheese
is a comfort food that should be somewhat mild. I was surprised at how spicy it was - and I do like spicy just not in mac and cheese.

29. Have you ever heard her speak?
If I hear "EVOO" one more fucking time.... ARGH!!! :grr: :grr: :grr:

It's her food, it's her obnoxiousness, it's the way she talks out of the side of her mouth, it's the fact that she's still breathing... :nuke:

remember her being perky. I don't plan to watch again since the recipe sucked bad.
