Sometimes I really wonder about stuff
One of the fluorescent lights in the kitchen is bein' persnickety, as fluorescent lights will do, and it didn't come on all day.

I just took my coffee cup into the kitchen to rinse it. The very instant I turned on the water, the light came on... and so did the furnace.

:scared:

3. I just broke up thinking of a 'WKRP' bit
In part two of the "tornado" episode, when Johnny "fixes" the elevator ("We had 'em like this in 'Nam."), and when they get back to the station he goes, "Now maybe I can do something about these lights!" He gestures toward the ceiling as he says it... and the lights come on.

The look on his face!

6. Thank you for giving me the whole skit!
Sorta like Cliff Notes for the TV challenged!
I used to watch that show all_the_time! But honestly The_Mind_Is_The_First_Thing_To_Go.

7. I can't remember friends' names
But I can remember teevee and movie stuff verbatim from 20, 30 years ago.

It's all about what parts of your brain you use. I use mostly the ones under 621.945.

9. Names have always been difficult for me.
I tend to remember snippets from songs but rarely more than a few lines. Things from 20 or 30 years ago take me quite a while to retrieve from my memory banks.

10. That kinda stuff's always right there for me
Especially if it's audial; I can hear voices and music from stuff way back as if it were live. I recall voice inflection and pitch perfectly, and I can give you the key of a song before it starts, if I know it's coming.

Visually, I'm not so good. And most data elude me, unless it was crammed into my brain.

11. So that explains why you like to hear someone's voice.

And why the way it sounds is so important to you. :)

12. I get a feeling about people from their voices, yeah
Hard to put into words what it is, though. It's very back-brained.

Another neat thing about this is I can replicate voices and sounds.

15. Does it take a rather large voice sample for you to get the feeling?
Like two hours.

I think it's cool to mimic someone that perfectly. I'll bet it got you into trouble in school when you were young.

18. The more varied the sample, the better
What's important is to hear how people sound in different moods. Voices change a lot depending on how one feels.

The impersonations bit never got me in any trouble because I didn't know I had it when I was in school. I was a lip-syncher then, not a mimic. I could lip-synch Bill Cosby's first seven albums in their entirety when I was 13, but I didn't do his voice until I was in my mid-20s, or anyone else's. It just never occurred to me until then.

19. I understand what you are talking about.
I know my voice changes totally depending on who (or what) I'm talking to.
Thank you for sharing a glimpse into the heart of O R. :loveya:

5. Odd, I've studied electron theory and electricity.
It sounds like either your ballast is going bad in your fluorescent light fixture or maybe the bulbs just need to be changed. I'd try changing the bulbs first. As far as the freak occurence like that, that's just something freaky that happened. Don't worry about it. Life is freaky sometimes.

8. I dunno where the ballast is
I've been inside the fixture and I don't see one. Maybe they hid it in the ceiling.

It's the same in the master bathroom. I've changed that one and it still won't come on, and if there's a ballast, it's hidden.

I wasn't worrying, though. Weird stuff like that just makes me go "Hmmm."

14. That what it is?
I've been wonderin' about the refrigerator. I think it leaves the light on when I close the door so the condiments can party.
