1. I was just reading Lara's thread

5. Election judges are basically clerical workers that work on election day
registering people to vote (we have same day registration), handing out ballots, etc.

18. Do you get paid?
The year I did it — must've been the mid-'80s — we got something like $6 per hour. I think I made around $70 that day.

The best part was when a guy from my graduating class who'd played varsity basketball came to vote and I reminded him of the time he gave me an 18-footer from the baseline in a pickup game and it was nothin'. but. net.

2. Minnesota has always been a bit strange politically...
BUt things usually work out ok. But, when they go bad, they really go bad (Rod Grams, Norm Coleman)!!!

9. My dear KitchenWitch!
Glad to see you're back!

Out here, we just have primaries.....

We do have caucuses, but these are run by the party, and are for endorsement purposes, I think.......

:hi:

12. It was fun
First time in years that I have been to a caucus and I was pleasantly surprised that a former high muckity muck in the DFL party lives in my precinct. He is a wealth of information!

20. We don't actually except for local offices
The caucuses are the only thing we do during presidential years, unless I missed something big in 2004.

The DFL is proposing getting rid of local primaries through instant runoff voting.

21. The person who convened our caucus mentioned something about that
but then he did not have the materials, so we went right into the resolutions.
