7. Really? That's awesome--congratulations!
My husband loves being a dad--it really brings out all of his very best qualities and makes him incredibly happy (puke and all).

I think most men feel this way, but our society has sort of relegated fathers to a second-hand status when it comes to raising children--most of them seem to take to it like the proverbial ducks to water.

Good luck and keep us posted!

12. That may look gross, BUT...

I find that I am somehow genetically programmed so that my own kids' puke and poop does not gross me out.

It's quite interesting-- anyone else's mess (including other kids) disgusts me. But with my *own* kids, I can quite happily deal with everything that comes out of them, without a second thought.

I think it's an evolutionary trait.

13. Could all of the nice posters who like the dads/being dads
GO INSPIRE ALL THE SORRY, SLIMY, SPREM DONORS IN THE REST OF THIS NATION TO WAKE THE FUCK UP AND DO THEIR DAMN JOBS AS PARENTS??? Or get goddamn vasectomies like the smart men do?

Use your enthusiasm. If you can inspire the pathetic excuse for "fathers" this country tolerates your will improve the next generation greatly. I? Think they're fucked over about as badly as mine has been, but that's only based on the massive pile of child abuse, child abandoment and single mothers in poverty I've been studying for the last ten years as part of my many jobs. Oh, well, I guess there's always hope. Wait? Who the fuck am I kidding?

Good luck!

My two never did that.
My son did get sick on the table at a restaurant, but then didn't throw up again for 15 years.

16. been there, my youngest did that every time we fed him
I don't know how he ever got any nutition at all, but he did.

He threw up on everyone and everything around him for years.

Enjoy every second of it, before you can think about it he'll be a moody teenager, making your life a living hell. You'll be pining for the days when the worst he could do was barf on you.
