What are your Oscar speech pet peeves?
I hate it when they dither. "Oh, dear, oh, dear, I only have 10 seconds left! Who do I thank? I'm forgetting everyone!!! Oh, dear!!!"

2. The lists of names are a snooze. The only time it was done right was on...
...the Tony awards, one year only, they put the lists of names the people wanted to thank at the bottom of the screen, mercifully saving everyone from having to sit through listening to the names. So the winners could say their meaningul comments while the list of names appeared on the screen. I thought this was brilliant and I hoped it would catch on with all the award shows, but they only did that one year on the Tony awards and that was it...

4. Well, this year it was the damn annoying MUSIC that played during them
:grr: I found it incredibly annoying, distracting and disrespectful.

I don't remember them EVER doing that before. I've seen them use music as a cue to let them know they need to wrap it up, but literally playing it during their speeches was a bit much.

That said, however, it was noticeably ABSENT during Altman's Honorary Oscar acceptance speech.

There is a definite Hollywood hierarchy.... :eyes:

6. when they kiss up to someone famous in the audience they don't even know
and the camera cuts away to that person, who looks like they don't know whether to smile or roll their eyes.
