8. I consider it a character flaw if you like 'Crash' better than ANYTHING.
OK, not really...but I am firmly convinced that "Crash"
is one of the worst movies I have ever seen.

And I've watched Affleck!

23. Because it is a horrible excuse for a motion picture, for starters.
Because it is a self-congradulatory exersize in manipulative
2-dimensional cliché.

Because 113 minutes of 'the world's worst commercials' would
actually reveal more of the human condition than this
pretentious, maudlin piece of cinematic masturbation ever dreamt of.

Because it was as 2-dimensional as 113 minutes of blank screen...
but without the DECENCY to leave me alone with my own thoughts,
which a blank screen would provide.

Because it was CRAP.
Utter CRAP.

11. This is all bullshit - folks don't understand, the vote was split
Best Director is just as important as best picture, if anything I think it's more important because that's the person who had the vision for the movie. Many times the producers who get the Best Picture award are nothing more than studio heads (tonight though Paul Haggis happened to also be a producer).

Basicaly the Academy said that we had two really great pictures and we want to honor both of them. So one got Best Director and the other got Best Producer

13. no, 'brokeback' just didn't speak to the full spectrum film expression...
and what it did speak to has a small sampling imo

15. politics has nothing to do with it
Try to look at the world through a non-political lens for a moment, will you? Good moviemaking transcends "red vs blue".

16. Lordy I hope not ...

Of course I didn't particularly like either of them. As a film for film's sake, I thought Brokeback was better, but that doesn't mean much given my standards.

I thought _Crash_ was too contrived. It gave me the feeling of the director standing behind me, shoving me in the direction he wanted me to go rather than walking ahead and leading me there, letting me follow if I chose to do so. I don't like movies or stories that do this.

_Brokeback Mountain_ is a nuanced romance and as such was a perfectly fine film, but I don't personally like these kinds of films. The only reason I even bothered to see it was because of the holier-than-thou crowd telling me it was bad. When I saw it, I realized they probably hadn't seen it at all. As noted, it's nuanced. You can take away from it whatever you want. Ironically, they took away from it a theme that wasn't necessarily inherent to it, proving once again they'd rather bitch, moan, and destroy than promote anything positive in their little world.

I thought both _Good Night, and Good Luck_ and _Capote_ were far superior films, but what do I know.

21. I like porn not love stories.
Porn is a love story without the talking. So I didn't care for Brokeback Mountain either. But that's true with all love stories.
