Old 97 fans?........Anyone?
This band writes such stellar pop/rock tunes with a slight (20%) country feel to them. Rhett Miller is a phenomenal songwriter and lyricist. This band never ceases to make me smile, tap my foot, and hum/sing along.

In a just world they would be huge, but alas.....

Any other fans out there?

1. Not a HUGE fan in terms of owning a lot of their music...
...but what I have heard, I like. I've just got SO MUCH country/pop/rock in my collection now, it's hard to add new stuff. There always seems to be a more important purchase when it's time to buy cds for some reason.

2. I know the feeling......
That's why half.com is my savior. If I hunt around at the right times I can get 4-5 cd's used for what I would normally have to spend on only 1-2.

3. We have a Cheapo here. Used CDs are a good thing.
The only time I buy new is if I know the band is a small-time outfit that needs every dime. Er, also when I just HAVE to have a new release...

4. Ditto.....
I'm big on supporting new artists. I'll even buy multiple copies to give to others just to give them some extra sales if I have the cash.

But used CD's are the greatest.

6. This is why I have The Wrens, Grand Champeen and The Rite Flyers...
...in my collection from last month alone. I saw The Rite Flyers WAY back at South by Southwest (they're local though). FINALLY their damned cd is out, and I bought it from them at an in-store. It is outstanding, especially for a first effort!

5. I love the Old 97s!
I heard them several years ago on "Austin City Limits". I've bought their cds - I like them alot.

7. I really liked 'Fight Songs'.....
saw the band play a couple of months ago but they didn't include 'Jagged' on their setlist. :-(

I'll agree that Rhett Miller is quite talented, but it seems he may be taking the "pretty boy rock star" route.....x(

8. Pretty boy? Oh man...
It's possible, but given that ugly mug shot on the cover of his recent solo album, I dont' think he has much of a career in that field.
