wedding anniversary. They were royally pissed, my mother even more so a while later when my father enlisted. He first tried to enlist in the Navy, but was turned down because of bad eyesight (in the Navy, he figured he'd always have a bed to sleep in -- unless the ship got sank and also had been in the Great Lakes Merchant Marine). The Army took him, LOL.
