Windows XP HELP with media players PLEASE
I am so fucking frustrated!!
Do I really need Windows Media Player, Dell MusicWhatever, Real Player, Quick Time, AND Winamp on my computer?? I listen to hardly any music but WOULD like to listen to talk radio. I tried to play i.e.AmericaRadio on Winamp but got some stupid fucking message like "error playing disk"--repeatedly (since when is streaming radio a goddam DISK?). Then I decided to try upgrading to Winamp3. After I downloaded it, the stupid fucking radio still kept trying to come through the OLD Winamp and talking about a fucking DISK ERROR. Who ever heard of a download not automatically uninstalling the previous version??? So I just uninstalled the old Winamp--which then caused my computer to crash for the umpteenth time since I started trying to play Winamp--and then again hit the WINAMP symbol on the i.e.radio web site--and fucking REAL PLAYER comes up and starts playing the radio. Well, fuckin great, but I WANT WINAMP--it's the principle of the thing! I'm on a 56K dial-up and believe the buffering problem is least with Winamp. The next time I hit the Winamp logo, Windows Media Player opened and said "error." The fucking URL extension is .winamp.pls, so why do REAL PLAYER and WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER open? and why does that ugly Dell player come up sometimes when I try to use Windows Media Player? When I downloaded Winamp it asked if I wanted to make it THE player of every type of media and I said YES. All the other ones open with a message that they are not the default so WHY THE FUCK DON'T THEY FUCK OFF??

phew . . . I feel a little better. how the hell can I get Winamp to OPEN and PLAY THE RADIO?

1. I have Windows Media, Real, and Quicktime player
I find I need them all at various times. I don't use Winamp, but I can still view or listen to most anything.

I don't like to download programs to listen to audio online. I find most everything I want plays in the 3 above.

You have to go into the properties and check your file associations. They love to take over each other's territories.

and WinAmp blows moose, from my experience..

Here's a suggestion.

Go the the site below and try this Player. It's called Jet Audio, and it plays most kinds of files, including RA, MpG and Windows Media ones. It's a clean little player.

http://www.cowon.com/eng/product/jetaudio5/about.html

When you're done, click preferences and make it the default player.

You still have to keep Real PLayer and Windows Media on your computer, but with many types, Jet Audio will play as default for Mpg and Win Media files....RA will still jump up for RA files. But instead of clicking, you can copy or drag the URL into Jet Audio.

You can also add the links to Jet Audio and use the playlist to click on your selections by dropping and dragging the URLs.

Broadband would help a lot, and you may be able to get it for not much more then you're paying for your current service.
