Worst song in an 80s movie?
"I've Had the Time of My Life," from Dirty Dancing is the first that pops to mind. (Well, actually "She's like the wind," by Patrick Swayze came to mind first, but I think the other is worse.)

What say you?

3. Orchestral Manouevers in the Dark, "If You Leave"
From "Pretty In Pink," IIRC. What wretchedly vomitous saccharine crap.

That, and the entire soundtracks to "Footloose" and "Dirty Dancing."

as I said elsewhere in this thread, kenny loggins had a knack for adding crappy songs to 80s soundtracks :)

put my finger on it. This song was probably played a lot in early aerobics classes.

13. oh wow, it's actually worse than I thought
I always thought that line was "she's like the wind/through my dreams," which, while certainly not good, at least resists the metaphor. But you're right, it's tree :puke:

Another gem: "She leads me through moonlight/only to burn me with the sun"

Unless REO Speedwagon - my other loathed 80s band - had a song in a movie, then there might be a tie.

36. "Don't You Forget About Me" -- Breakfast Club
as done by Simple Minds. It's quite sad that Simple Minds became known for this piece of tripe, because the rest of their stuff sounds nothing like it and is actually quite good-- at least, until they did this song. :puke:

47. I agree- first thing that popped into my mind when I saw the OP.
And that also kinda sums up the entire 80s culture...

A serious, insightful, POWERFUL character-driven DRAMA,
remembered forever with a formulaic, corporate-issue POP song.

And you are quite correct to note how SAD it is that
TearsForFears will be forever remembered for that piece of work.
