Mine: Best of Times by Styx, 1982.

There. I said it, and I'm trying not to be ashamed.

4. Dunno - nobody to go with
You WOULD have to bring taht u p, wouldn't you. You know it upsets me but you keep bringing it up like it's fresh news and it's not. I didn't have anybody to go wtih because nobody liked me and I didn't have a girlfriend (even a fake one) and in that era if I'd brought a boyfriend I'd have been lynched.

I tried going solo to a dance-a-thon and got yelled at.

Why did you have to bring that upa gain?

I hate you

"1999" by Prince
"Now and Forever" by Carole King

It was my class song, too (go class of 1978), and I love it, but I noticed it playing on the Muzak in the airport, and I thought "I'm glad these kids have no idea what that song is, because it's not one I'd want to hear on my way to Iraq...

It was kinda surreal. Especially since "You've got Another Thing Coming" by Judas Priest was the song with the most votes (by a huge margin), but the school would not allow us to use it as our theme song. I have no idea how Theme from Mahogany was chosen (no one would say).

"And I'll taaaaaaake with me the memoriiiiiiies, to be my su-unshine, after the rai-ai-ai-ai-oo-aa-aiiiiiiiii-ai-ai-ai-ai-hain...."

Can't remember the title, but the next line is "It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday," so maybe that was the title.

Wasn't hard to say good-bye, though. Good riddance to that uptight, racist, snooty-ass little motherfuckin' town.

43. "What song is it you wanna hear?"
Despite graduating twenty-seven years after its release, my class chose "Free Bird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd as the class song. Now I actually like that song and Skynyrd, and listen to more sixties and seventies music than modern, but it still annoyed me that that was the class song; I wished we could have had something from around the time we were actually graduating. I think the "cowboys" at my school all got together and discussed beforehand that they were to vote for this one, and everybody else split among several others so the cowboys won out. Maybe it just irks me so much because now when I hear that song I involuntarily start thinking about the kids I graduated with...

49. That one *was* bad
I remember it came out the same year that I graduated, too. It was one of those where I wondered if the group wrote it with the idea that it would end up being used by hundreds of graduating classes as a "class song" and thus would have a much longer shelf life than it deserved. I think it's definitely possible.

I think it was also on the ballot for my class. I guess I should be proud of "Free Bird"...!

63. "The Dance" I bet
If the chorus went:

"And I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end, the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance
I could've missed the pain
But I'd've had to miss
The dance."

I'm just figuring that one 'cause it just sort of sounds like a class song. I've always liked it quite a bit. He also has one called "The River" that might have worked, but I figure "The Dance" is more likely...
