I just developed a system for a machine to make automated phone calls and, using a sort of AI, determine whether what's on the other side is a machine (voicemail, fax etc) or a human (in which case it forwards the call to a human sales pitcher). All to optimize those active telemarketing operators we all know and love.

I rarely answer my landline anyway, and if I do answer it and get a telemarketer I just hang up on them. :shrug:

8. I've been called by those machines, and I hate them.

Sometimes, they screw up badly. I'll pick up the phone, hear some clicking and then "Hello? Hello? Is anyone there?" and no one answers. It's especially annoying if I have to get up from the dinner table to answer the call.
