NBC's Olympic coverage sucks!
I haven't enjoyed watching the Olympics since ABC quit broadcasting them.

2. I agree.
Just snippets of the events that I want to watch, instead of the international all-stars of the sports. They seem to focus only on the Americans. Sure, I watch to root America on but I also watch for the full event and all the competitors.

5. The daytime coverage is better
They show more of the event and matches involving somebody other than Americans. I think they have to stuff so much into the evenings that it gives everything (except skating) minimal coverage. They show skating in prime time because it gets the highest ratings, compared to, say, curling.

8. Totally agree - was watching nearly all afternoon, and they spent a great
portion of the show, covering the nordic combined event. If you take away the part where Trautwig had to mention that Lodwick (the lone U.S. contender) was coming off an illness about every 30 seconds, they really did a nice job with very complete coverage of the X-country race which decided the event, giving enough "insider" info about the contending athletes to give you a better feel for the event - I was pleasantly surprised. Of course, tonight's coverage got back to the usual Amero-centric perspective...:eyes:

7. Yes, ABC's coverage was much better, although only us older people
remember those days.

NBC puts in too many commercials and warm-fuzzy interviews, not enough of the events.

12. I know. Not sure whether this has already been discussed,
but what the hell was the deal not showing the parade of nations at 8PM??!

NBC wasted an hour showing a bunch of shit before getting to the parade at 9PM.

There are a lot more important things going on in the world for that to piss me off, but I was pissed!

13. Yeah, I was pissed about that as well.
I mean come on, the time difference between Turin and the East Coast is 6 hours and then they still cut the OC to pieces.

As for Brian Williams bloviating during the Parade of Nations, :puke:.

At least we weren't subjected to an interview with Pickles, remember Chimpy and Sasha Cohen and her cell phone in Salt Lake City?

BTW, I guess Pickles is stuck in Torino because of the nasty weather on the East Coast. I gather she's not returning to DC until Monday.

14. I was happy it wasn't Katie Couric during the Opening Ceremony...
like in Athens. Can't stand her. But I soon regretted the addition of Brian Williams. He sure killed the happy, hopeful, and peaceful mood of the Parade of Nations by mentioning each and every horrible thing that a nation was in the news for.

15. American coverage of the World Cup is even worse.
It's improved a lot over the years, but it's still pretty awful. Half the time I switch over to the Spanish channels even though I don't speak a lick of Spanish.
