2. I know!! He took me for surprise. I know he is no goody goody,
but for some reason, this caught me off guard. And Charlie getting back at Locke!!! And next week, it appears they let the timer run out! Can't wait.

3. Yeah, you knew that timer thing would start getting old
But I figured that would have been a season ender. You know, the last episode of the season, the timer gets down to 01 and they fade to black making everyone wait until next season to see if they survive!

first season ending with not letting us know what was in the hatch!!

he got the money and wouldn't risk not sharing it with his partner.

The waitress in the diner was Kate's mom.

17. Glen Miller...
http://history1900s.about.com/library/prm/blglenmiller4.htm

For years afterward, speculation about Miller's fate centered on the bad weather and the plane's lack of de-icing equipment. In late December 1985, however, two former members of a Royal Air Force bomber crew came forward with a story that provides the likeliest explanation of the accident that will probably ever surface. They had been aboard one of some 150 Lancaster bombers returning from an aborted raid on Germany on December 15, 1944. Following standard procedure, the crew jettisoned their bombs near Beachy Head on the southern coast of England. But as the bombs exploded, the gunner reportedly saw a Norseman below them fall into the sea, apparently downed by the shock waves. A check of the records at Britain's Ministry of Defense subsequently confirmed the aborted raid and the return of the Lancasters. Miller, in other words, may have been a victim of that grim military occurrence, "friendly fire."

13. I was ready to write Lost off, but last night's episode really impressed
me. Sawyer and Charlie really took me by surprise. I never would have thought that Charlie was capable of violence. I think this episode raises the question of redemption. They alluded to the allegory of the scorpion and the frog. "It's what I do." Hm...great episode.

31. Charlie did murder Ethan...I must admit that I hadn't thought of that
in my original post. While not to excuse the murder, I thought he committed that as a crime of passion and protection. The violence against Sun really surprised me. His motivation for that is seems to be to humiliate Locke. He committed violence against one of his own and not violence against an "other." Perhaps I was seduced by the possibility of "redemption" when it doesn't exist. I guess I really do not know any of the characters at all. Are they going for a Heart of Darkness theme?

Just because she's a trigger-happy sourpuss who jumps to conclusions and is wrong 95 percent of the time. She means well...

What did Sawyer call her last night? Little Lulu? :)

I have to say that if I were on the island I would be more than a bit upset that they were hogging that thing and not letting people sleep inside it.Why wouldn't they let the baby sleep in there at least?

27. Didn't Claire ask Locke if she and the baby could sleep in the hatch
after Charlie's attempted "baptism"? I think he said no because it would be too "noisy". Yeah, that would annoy me if there was a few elite that could be in the hatch.

I wouldn't want my baby only sleeping that long if it was sleeping through the night.

36. (Chiming in really late) I wondered about that, too
The book was Ambrose Bierce's An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge. Here's a summary I found on another site. There has to be some significance to them showing that book--or maybe it's just tinfoil hat time for me. :)

'An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge'' is one of the most widely anthologized American short stories and is considered Ambrose Bierce's best work of short fiction. First published in Bierce's short story collection Tales of Soldiers and Civilians in 1891, the story centers on Peyton Farquhar, a southern planter who, while not a Confederate Soldier, is about to be hanged by the Union Army for attempting to destroy the railroad bridge at Owl Creek. As Farquhar stands on the bridge with a noose around his neck, Bierce leads the reader to believe that the rope breaks and that Farquhar falls into the water below, only to escape to his farm, where he is reunited with his wife. It is revealed at the end of the story, however, that Farquhar has, in fact, been hanged and that these imaginings took place in the seconds before his death. While ''An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge" has been occasionally faulted for what some critics consider its gimmicky ending, it has nonetheless been lauded as an example of technical brilliance and innovative narration as well as for its examination of such themes as the nature of time and the complexities of human cognition.

(Emphasis added by me.)

30. Good drama
I have four episodes left in the Season One DVD. But what I like about the characterizations, is they're not all good or all bad. The good folk have their dark sides. And the bad guys, like Sawyer and Jin have their good sides. Well, I haven't seen a bad side to Hurley yet.

I guess I'll have to wait until August for the Season Two DVD. No way will I watch it on broadcast telly, smothered with adverts.

32. You can download it
it's on the Apple Music Store now. We've been downloading that and Desperate Housewives, since we cant get broadcast TV and cable isn't worth it for the amount of TV we watch. This is perfect. We usually watch one or two episodes a week.
