Octavia had a bit longer hair. Her grandma was a Persian and she had the softness of that fur and a bit short nose than the average house cat. I miss her. She is gone since a year.

my first cat (ok, it was the family cat) was called Lillekort, or short Lille.

The name Lillekort comes from a Swedish or Norwegian fairy tale my brother read when we got him.

But my mom loved to do it.

35. OMG! What a precious pic! Of you both, LOL! Thanks for sharing! :D
My beloved girl has been gone since September of 2001. She was a pretty amazing cat, whom I adopted when my uncle died. His bitch of a wife got rid of his animals and no one would take his two cats, so I did. I had known the older one, who was very nice cat, but somewhat reclusive, but the other one was a total mystery to me. All I was told was that "it" was friendly. What an understatement! She was pretty amazing, from day one, a very outgoing cat with a real personality, and I realized my incredible good fortune. I could take her with me anywhere, and did. She was quite young, so I thought I would have her for 20 years, but I lost her, after exhausting every option, at age seven. I still miss her so very much.;(

37. I know how you feel
I lost my first cat at age 7 as well. He was hit by a car and afer searching I found him. He was such a sweetheart. Friendly with everybody. Loved petting. He would take my whole pillow to sleep on - didn't matter where I wanted to put my head :)

Octavia - she was a devil. She was my cat even though she lived most of her live at my moms. My mom misses her too of course. She turned 16. She loved to get petted also but the moment she had enough she would hit you. She never learned to not use her claws. I had scratches often enough. But she was a sweetheart nevertheless.

Darn, why do our kittens can't live a longer life?

46. My local vet ran out of options, so he sent me to a cutting edge hospital.
The vet there was treating her with antibiotics and weekly acupuncture, and thought he'd found the answer, after consulting with neurologists, when he discovered the tumor. It was inside her head, and inoperable. I thought that if anyone could beat it, it would have been this fearless cat. She improved, due to the acupuncture, but I lost her 10 days after the final diagnosis. And my girl loved petting, as well. Would jump on anyone's lap and tap anyone, insistently, who wasn't paying attention, LOL! And she was declawed, not my doing. The only time I was ever grateful for this was when I had to give her a bath, when she was sick and got food on her fur. I fed her, for weeks, using a syringe. I had doubts, when the vet suggested this, but I underestimated my resilient cat. I still have trouble believing that she couldn't beat anything...;(

I subsequently adopted another black cat, one whom I'd seen outside and thought belonged nearby. It turned out that she'd been abandoned, and it took me four months and a have-a-heart trap to finally bring her inside. But she owed her rescue to Rhiannon, since this cat was also black, so I immediately noticed her, and tried to make friends with another black cat. She was 12 when I found her, and I lost her, as well, last year. And I agree. My heart has been ripped out far too many times. I wish that I could keep all of my guys forever.;(

53. That's Mic. He was a overly affectionate stray who adopted me.
The first day he showed up at my home he was fine. The next day he had a shattered leg. The vet said "It looked like someone kicked him." He needed surgery and lived with a pin in his leg while it healed. After the pin was removed Mic would to bring home bunnies as big as he was. He would leave them on the front stoop, a present for me. That cat wanted nothing more than to sit on my lap and purr. He was quite a drooler.

75. Yogi does more than the other two.
He's his momma's boy though. Even when he tears my stack of puzzles into a million papers strung from one end of the room to the other, he's still my baby boy.

just screams "Mischief"

my cat loved playing with the papers. Or with maps. You fold them out on the floor ... and she sat on it or crawled underneath. When you where pointing out something you better were watching out

78. I wish I could make a good video of Yogi under papers and my
jackets. I tend to hang my jackets on the kitchen chairs when I get home. He gets under either them or some papers and looks up like he is making a game out of it. He opens his eyes really wide and looks up like he's waiting for someone or something to ambush. He'll run out all of a sudden if you walk by him and tap your ankles. He doesn't even use his claws. I call it playing ambush.

He also loves to run through the house and jump on the tallest thing he can find in the area and scream at the top of his lungs. He usually has the same look on his face when he does that. My aunt has a lift contraption that looks like a miniature crane. He jumps on it and climbs out to the end of the crane arm part. He falls off and keeps right on going. He'll do it over and over again. I call it playing pirate. He loves to play pirate too.

119. He's still undecided
Spencer has that nasty cold-like thing that's common in animal shelter pets, so he's not very playful yet. Riley hasn't figured out what he's doing here. And both of them appear to hate me, lol.

Actually, I think Spencer either hasn't had much human contact or had negative human contact before, so he's very skiddish...and being forced to take medicine isn't helping that. But he's coming around, slowly.

:hi:

120. poor Spencer! Sounds a bit like our kitty Gloria
She was so sick and sad when my hubby found her- she barely moved for weeks. And she is still a bit skittish after a year and a half. She startles very easily. But she is also the loviest wee thing. She and her sister Trouble do not get along at all. But Trouble is a tad nuts. Mackie on the other hand loves little Gloria and she adores him. She tries to pick fights with him, she grooms him and snuggles him. It is very nice to see the tiny wee Gloria with the gigantic Mac cat!

Here's hoping that Spencer and Riley get to be good friends too!

127. When I first searched for information
on what this beast of mine might be, I thought he might be a birman also but his personality more closely matches a ragdoll. He's a big baby who follows me through the house like a dog. He even knocks on the shower curtain when I'm in there because he can't stand not being able to see me. LOL

Here's a picture of a mitted ragdoll

118. This must be tough on all of them, since I know that they do get attached.
But I'm so glad that you were able to place them together! And I would expect no less from the majestic Oberon! My little dog was raised with his biological sister. When his owner died, they were placed separately, not good for him, since she was the leader. But, when he found me, he bonded, from the very first day, with my cocker spaniel. He had found the sister that he'd lost. But then she got sick and I eventually lost her, despite fighting the good fight. I explained to my vets how this would affect my little guy. He hasn't been the same dog since.;(

109. I've had several other batches since those two
he only really bonded with one other pair-then I had several deaths in a row (panleukapenia and FIP), and it just got to be too heart wrenching. I'm taking a break for now, and maybe I'll take in some more in the spring. Oberon would spend all day, every day looking after little ones if he could.

112. You asked for it!
Here are my previous foster kitties!

Alan & Martina. Battled feline herpes virus & Martina lost an eye due to it. Both were adopted out together to a loving home!

Blaze. My very first foster.. who could say no to this?? He's the one that got me into fostering. Walked into the shelter to volunteer with the dogs, and someone shoved him in my face & asked "Do you want to foster him??" Basically if I didn't, he'd be sent to the county shelter where they don't have the resources for kittens his size/age. Of course I had to say yes!!!

Carston & Shawnee. Big enough for adoption, but needed more socialization.

Chai, Earl Grey & Machiatto (orange) - Chai & Earl Grey were brothers, Machiatto was a lone kitten 'adopted' into their family.

Chai sleeping - gotta love sleeping kittens. :)

Hank. Longtime foster because he needed eyelid surgery & ointment in his eyes until he could have it when he was older. Had to find another foster home as he didn't get along with a newly adopted kitty I adopted.

Ikea. Another poor victim of feline herpes virus. :( Kept both eyes, but vision was poor. Found a great home anyways!

Kamali - first mama & kittens I fostered. I adopted her little calico daughter. I called the mother Kami for short, and the little one 'Lil Kami' - so when I adopted the kitten, I named her Kami after her mom. :)

Big Kami & Lil Kami :) (Big Kami watching Lil Kami from my lap)

Also had a black brother/son named Calvin.

Marana was the 2nd mama/litter I had. Got them from the second day they were born though!

Denver. Just barely underweight for neuter so fostered for short period of time with Atlanta & Phoenix.

Atlanta.

Phoenix.

Rilla. Fostered her for a short while to give Blaze (first foster) a playmate while the vet was on vacation & couldn't spay her for a week.

Wilbur & Templeton. My first 'hissy kitties' :) Had to force cuddle them & socialize them before adoption. Templeton (the black & white one) was the worst. He was as loving as could be though when someone adopted him! :)

For anyone out there thinking about fostering.. let me just tell you, it is sad & hard to give them up.. but the feeling you get from actually helping these babies start out in life & find them a home (I foster for a specific shelter) is just immeasurable!!! :)

Sorry for so many pics, but I at least have to include my own clan too. :)

This is my Cuddles. Got her when I was 12, and she'll be 18 in April this year. :) I don't know what I'll ever do without her. She has been diabetic the past 3 1/2 years, but diet controlled on low carb wet food for nearly a year now. Also diagnosed with CRF (chronic renal failure) 7/05. Giving her sub-q fluids every night & she's back to her old self now! :) After all the great years she's given me, it's the least I can do for her.

Kami.. she's a little over 1 now.. my old foster.

Bandit.. she's 6. She's my 'special kitty' :) Isn't always the first to catch on to things, but that just makes her that much more special to me. :)

Here's Misha. I did adopt all but Cuddles from the shelter I volunteer/foster at. I believe she's a pit bull/greyhound mix, although from a shelter, you never know how many breeds are thrown into the mix! ;)

Here she is prancing around, wagging her tail, and she gives me a submissive grin every so often. :)

When she's all out running, she does have a greyhound run. :P

Bestest buds for life. :) Kami & Misha are so close.. it's so sweet!
