Anybody watch the Ultimate Fighting Championship last night?
I was so disappointed in the last fight. I wanted Randy Couture to win so bad. I was so sad that he retired too. He's a great guy, honest, hard working and all class.

I love Paul Buentello! Don't fear me, fear the consequences!

1. I'm going to watch it in a few.
I was spoiled by the UFC webpage so now I know who wins the Couture/Liddell fight, but it was pretty predictable. It's amazing Couture was even fighting at 42.

In a way it's good to get Randy out of the way so Chuck can be challenged by a younger, hungrier fighter. I don't know UFC particularly well, who are some of the rising stars at 205?

I haven't seen the rest of the card. Can't wait!

2. there a couple younger guys who can fight
Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonner are both pretty tough and rising fast. Renato Sobral is probably going to get a title shot at some point. Mike Van Arsdale is tough as well. I wish Quinton "Rampage" Jackson would come over to the UFC and fight Chuck. He's beaten Liddell before.

3. Maybe the winner of Griffin/Bonnar II can get a title shot.
Now we just need Griffin/Bonnar II!

4. Forrest is going to fight Tito Ortiz in a few months
that will be badass.

I'm anxious to see Matt Hughes fight Royce Gracie. That'll be happening later this year too.

5. I've never seen Gracie fight
I guess he's something like the Babe Ruth of MMA. I wonder if he's ever faced a pure athlete of Matt Hughes caliber?

Can't wait.

Ortiz/Griffin. Nice.

Well, I'm gonna watch it now!

6. I saw it!
Great win for Chuck Liddell! It was sad to see Randy Couture retire, but he had a great career and might be the greatest UFC legend of all time. Marcio Cruz's victory over Frank Mir was a huge surprise. Mir might not be as fully recovered as he had thought. The Riggs-Diaz fight was very entertaining as well. Apparently, Diaz and Riggs got into it in the hospital after the fight, with Diaz slugging Riggs while Riggs still had an IV in his arm! Brandon Vera looks like he will be a major force in the heavyweight division.

7. Pretty decent card (spoilers)
The Diaz/Riggs fight was good, but Riggs at 170 is kind of a joke. He can compete at middleweight just fine. Despite a couple of recent losses I still think Diaz is going to make some waves in that division.

Pretty disappointing performance by Mir. He got beat up pretty good by a submission specialist.

Who's going to challenge Arlovsky? As if anyone can!

Brandon Vera looked GREAT. He might be a possibility.

8. I used to cut a lot of weight
Riggs is drying himself out too much. You can't do what he is doing and still be 100 percent. No way. I'd cut about 14 pounds a week and for my size it's pretty similar in body weight percentage as he is and I would feel awful. It hurt me to do it. Next day I'd be about 10 or 12 pounds heavier and even more than that in a few more days, but it was just too much. He didn't look that good against Diaz and I could tell right off it was too much weight to cut for him. I used to see the same things in myself. He needs to move up to 185, no doubt.

Mir looked awful. He had to be rusty and not nearly his old self. I hope he can come back. Mentally he needs to not let it beat him.

Arlovsky is an animal. I'd like to see him fight Buentello again, I like that guy, but I doubt he could ever give Arlovsky that much of a go. A healthy and tip top Mir could, but obviously he's far from being the old Frank right now.

Brandon Vera is ultra-talented. He reminds me of David Terrell. One of those guys with sickening amounts of natural ability. It would be interesting to see him get challenged a little and see how he reacts to that. I remember Vitor looked nearly invincible and when he got seriously challenged he didn't know what to do. Terrell was like that against Evan Tanner. Be interesting to see how Vera fares when the going gets tough. Other than that, he's so skilled he'll pretty much be able to walk through most guys on ability alone. He seems like a worker though. He's definitely one to watch.
