I NOW understand why the Stones are still so hot.

OK, maybe the halftime show wasn't the greatest rock spectacular in history.

Fine.

I've gotta think that a great part of the appeal is that these guys still look good after all these years. Hell, they look in better shape than some of these BOY BANDS! They give hope, IMHO, to those who would easily write them off as old has-beens. You can pass 60 and still rock and not look too ridiculous.

Now, this is coming from the perspective of one who has watched in near horror, to the point of looking for the nearing rock to crawl under, as some of the greats from yesteryear climb on stage today and try to reclaim that old glory, and they're just too done. Come on, I know some of you have watched those oldies shows during PBS pledge week or the Jerry Lewis Telethon; you know what I'm talking about!

So, cheers to the Stones, rock on, rock on.

1. They look GOOD?
I've seen corpses that looked healthier than Kieth Richards does.

2. But, RS.

There are many jokes that I can remember from the 70s about Richards looking like a corpse.

So I guess one could honestly say that he hasn't aged a day. :D

3. You're right. Wonder what his secret is? The cocaine? The Marlboros?
Formaldehyde?

4. When we were kids...
anytime a conversation about the Stones popped up, inevitably someone would say, "After the Soviets drop the big one, the only thing that'll survive will be cockroaches and Keith Richards."

Classic Keith Richards humor, which began in the Cold War. :D

5. Want to know how old I am? I have a hard time thinking of Ron wood as
a Rolling Stone. Mention his name, and I think "Small Faces."

That's how old I am.

7. Mention Rod Stewart and I'm right there with you.
I hung out with older friends (not OLD friends, just 5-10 years older than me) when I was a young teen, so I was immersed in some good music.

:hi:

And YOU'RE NOT OLD! :D

12. Ron Wood
I thought he looked the most-corpselike tonight, with Keith a close second.

10. They went for it. Guitars sounded great. 3 songs, 2 of them classics.
They did rock. They were great. I guess it was too hard to pull off some back up vocals on Satisfaction but I could live with it.

11. I'd much take the Stones over the Backstreet Boys any day.
It was an OK show, I wish it were longer and that they had played "Rain Fall Down" instead of "Rough Justice".

13. They were bleeped twice.
During Start Me Up (the dead man thing)and Rough Justice (couldn't say cocks), the 5-second censor muted Jagger's lyrics.

I read it on CNN or MSNBC.
