THEY LIVE is on AMC now!
This is the 80's cult movie that's so eerily appropriate to what's happening today. I was in college when it first came out and I remember thinking at the time how glad I was that it was just fiction and that something like that wouldn't happen to my country in my lifetime. HA, little did I know!

There are evil aliens posing as humans, planning their takeover, managing to disguise themselves by broadcasting a satellite signal that blocks people from seeing what they really are and they can only be detected with specially made glasses. Not many people know what's really happening and they manufacture the glasses and organize in a desperate attempt to get their fellow countrymen (I think it's set in Los Angeles) to see what's really going on and that they need to fight back. The group's slogan is They Live, We Sleep.

Fellow DUers have commented on the relevance of the movie to what's happening today, so I thought I'd let everyone know it's on AMC now!

1. I had a "They Live!" fan page for a while...
...funny that it's really hard to find now. Can't find the DVD at all. Hollywood Video had it, but all the copies in Saint Louis were never returned. Yes, quite eerie. Exploit the people of earth, with the cooperation of their human "partners" in their corporate venture. And, one of the longest brawl scenes in movies ;)

6. I think it started at 12:30, but it might have been earlier.
I was just doing some late-night channel surfing (yes, gentlemen, we gals do that too!) and happened to catch it.

7. I love that film
I think that the DVD is currently unavailable - maybe they'll come out with a new edition.

9. October 7, 2003 it will be re-released
Strange, really. I had picked up the disc for $24.99 18 months ago. Now it's being re-released for $14.98...

There don't seem to be any new features or tid-bits though. :-(

8. AMC is kicking ass!
They Live is definitely an American Movie Classic, as is Legend with Tom Cruise which they show often.

I love that network!
