Help a cell phone newby- battery removal question??
I removed my battery from a Sony Erricson t226 in order to look at the serial (Imie) number. I did it to "qualify" for the rebate on the purchase. I put the battery back in and the phone acted dead. I plugged it into the charger and it says "charging only". Will it come back to life?

1. Had the battery been fully charged before you pulled it? If so,...
you should be OK.
Could you have jostled the SIM card? If you unseat the card the connection will be interrupted.
Whatever, let it stay in the charger overnite.

2. Thanks!
Battery was at full charge, its odd the thing wouldn't fire up. I am sorely upset that the cell company sends me a rebate form to fill out. All kinds of warnings making it sound as if the rebate is something I have to earn. They HAVE every bit of information they requested already! I hate having to jump through hoops to get the advertised/offered price.

3. I gave up on rebates long ago. Meanwhile about your phone...
make sure the SIM card is firmly seated. That is the brain of the phone.

On those rebates. I firmly believe they are just carrots used to suck us in and then this onerous weight is placed on the buyer to try to get the darned thing.
And you are right, they have everything they need from your purchase (especially with a cellphone).

Good luck with both issues.
