OK, first off I was excited to see this movie after seeing the previews and went out of my way to not read any spoilers before hand. I even stayed clear of the reviews which is unusual for me. WHY? Because I love Jodie Foster. I Love Silence of the Lambs, CONTACT, Taxi Driver and I even Thought Panic Room was decent, I admire her intelligence and I love mystery/suspense movies in general.
But WTF?? This movie had so much potential in the beginning!! They played the death card so heavily in the beginning, the scenes of her and her husband walking together, the guys in the window, the great cinematography...even the little girl was kind of creepy before she dissapeared.... and by the middle of the movie, I was INTO it. I was really trying to figure it out...Was the girl dead? Was SHE in the coffin, and not the husband? Did the plane crash and everyone died EXCEPT for the little girl? Were the arabs the behind it? (even though I KNEW that wasn't the case)... I was waiting for a clever plot twist that involved SOMETHING supernatural, but I got...
A FUCKING EVIL AIR MARSHALL AND HIS DUMB FLIGHT ATTENDANT ACCOMPLICE WHO WANTED FIFTY MILLION DOLLARS AND THE LITTLE GIRL WAS IN THE FUCKING CARGO HOLD DRUGGED UP!
I feel cheated. Jodie, what the hell were you thinking?? I mean, Panic Room wasn't great, but at least you knew what you were getting beforehand: Two people locked inside a panic room trying to fend off burglars. Why then in Flightplan, did they go through all of the death stuff and the eerie scenes in the beginning with the coffin, the subway station with her husband and the guys in the window and get me all ready for a plot twist akin to the Sixth Sense, when you were really giving me a bad ransom movie with a FAR FETCHED premise?
BAHHHHHHH!
I give this one two out of five only because of the decent first half.
Anyone else?
