When a freeper declares bankruptcy and loses everything
How do they react?

They have no more credit to draw on. They will be in danger of losing their home if payments fall behind. I'm sure they find any government assistance program so distasteful that they wouldn't think of applying.

What the hell do they do? Is there a business safety net for them that I am unaware of?

What happens to the new cars their children are driving?

Would Jr. be willing to flip hamburgers to help save the family home, or would it be beneath their pampered, soft asses?

1. No, they use the same programs every one uses
Being a hypocrit doesn't bother them in the slightest.

5. they do apply for assistance
I've known several right-ring extremists who declared bankruptcy and they have no problem applying for assistance both from the state and from their church. Some even hit up more than one church. They don't have any problem with receiving free money or a safety net; they just want to make sure that YOU and YOUR grandmother can't get any money or safety net.

There is no special safety net for them but, at least in this state, when you declare bankruptcy, you can "affirm the debt" if you want to keep driving a new car or living in a new house. One of the most anti-abortion extremists I know bought his first home not long before declaring bankruptcy and he was able to stay in his home. However, this is a homestead state; bankruptcy law varies from state to state; your laws may differ.

Most of the people I know who declare bankruptcy, wingnuts or not, have health issues so working is not an option. No one wants them on their health plan, anyway, so they wouldn't have gotten hired even if the doctor cleared it.

8. If they do it, it's because they really need it,
if you do it, it's because you're a lazy liberal.

10. My dyed in the wool Republican father
believed all of his life that everyone made their own bed and that they should lie in it even if the end result wasn't to their liking. Nope, no one should seek assistance and if anyone hadn't planned for the rainy day it was their fault. That is until after he retired and of course he developed the chronic diseases that old people do before they die.

His medical bills cleaned out his nest egg because no one would insure him after he retired. Health insurance wasn't part of his company's pension. It was about this time that Medicare became law and saved his ass. He also found out that Social Security helped augument his pension, which shrunk from inflation.

Yep, even freepers have to use the safety nets our liberal pols have provided when they could.

12. They plan it out way in advance
They build up all of the credit that they can get and they start putting everything that they own in their kids or relatives names.
By the time that the file bankruptcy most of the big shit's gone and all of the stocks and bonds are turned over to someone in their family or sold off before the bankruptcy starts.

13. Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn ...
because there are plenty of people who need assistance far more than freepers who may have had the inside track and still didn't capitalize on it. The people I cry for are those on the outside who haven't had a chance to get their foot in the door and use HONEST EFFORT to achieve even a modicum of what passess for "success."

15. Well
I don't take pleasure in peoples' misfortune. There are very few people I say who "deserve" it.

16. I don't take pleasure ...
I just think that there are others who deserve our sympathy more. I wish there were no bad economy to repo anyone's assets, but in this social Darwinism that's advocated by the right, someone has to lose, unfortunately. I just wish it were people like KEN LAY who (and now I use the "d" word intentionally) DESERVES to lose.

17. I agree wholeheartedly
I'm also in a similar boat. I've done the best I can with what I've been given but even when things haven't been as bad for me (I've never been what I'd even consider CLOSE to rich, but I've been in better shape financially), I always respected programs to help those even less fortunate than me. What bugs me are those who see poverty as a moral failing as opposed to just the "hand you're dealt" in so many cases. When those same self-righteous people fall upon hard times, I admit it -- and this makes me feel awful but it's the truth -- I can't feel that sorry for them. But I certainliy hope that God or someone else does because I don't want to see anyone out on the street ...

20. They go on assistance, just like everyone else...
Then they sit there and read their Ayn Rand over and over and get all bitter about how no one in our stupid culture of sheeple recognizes that they're superior human beings who deserve to have everything they want and then some, and if only they could leave and go somewhere composed of people who think exactly like them, they'd be the elite that they always knew they were.

Pardon me, I watched this happen to the Freeperish Randroid husband of an acquaintance. He is now her ex-husband, and currently enjoys the courteous hospitality of the Beneficent State, room and board graciously provided (although without the freedom to come and go). It seems His Majesty had a liking for underage serving wenches...
