Kanye West poses as Jesus on Rolling Stone cover
I'm sure all the wingnuts will rush out and buy this issue and frame it.

>NEW YORK - Kanye West, with a crown of thorns atop his head, poses as Jesus Christ on the cover of the upcoming issue of Rolling Stone.

The outspoken rapper defends his brash attitude inside the magazine's pages, on newsstands Friday. He is also pictured posing as Muhammad Ali<

6. The christofascists will predictably be up in arms.
Of course, they had ne problem when Mel Gibson did it.

26. Then just point them to Kanye's song "Jesus Walks." Lyrics:
Intro}

I need to recruit all the soldiers
All of God's soldiers
We at war
We at war with terrorism, racism, and most of all we at war with ourselves
(Jesus Walks)
God show me the way because the Devil try to break me down
(Jesus Walks with me with me with me with me)

{Verse 1}

You know what the Midwest is?
Young & Restless
Where restless Niggas might snatch your necklace
And next these Niggas might jack your Lexus
Somebody tell these Niggas who Kanye West is
I walk through the valley of the shadow of death is
Top floor of the view alone will leave you breathless
*Gasping for air*
Try to catch it
*Gasping for air*
It's kinda hard
Gettin' choked by detectives yeah yeah now check the method
They be asking us questions, harass and arrest us
Saying "we eat pieces of shit like you for breakfast."
Huh? Yall eat pieces of shit what's the basis?
We ain't goin' nowhere but got suits and cases
A trunk full of coke rental car from Avis
My momma used to say only Jesus can save us
Well momma I know I act a fool
But I'll be gone till November I got packs to move I Hope

{Chorus}

(Jesus Walks)
God show me the way because the Devil try to break me down
(Jesus Walks with me)
The only thing that I pray is that my feet don't fail me now
(Jesus Walks)
And I don't think there’s nothing I can do to right my wrong
(Jesus Walks with me)
I wanna talk to God but I'm afraid cause we ain't spoke in so long

(Jesus Walks)
God show me the way because the Devil try to break me down
(Jesus Walks with me)
The only thing that I pray is that my feet don't fail me now
(Jesus Walks)
And I don't think there’s nothing I can do to right my wrong
(Jesus Walks)
I wanna to talk to God but I'm afraid cause we ain't spoke in so long
(Jesus Walks with me with me with me)

{Verse 2}

To the hustlers, killers, murderers, drug dealers even the strippers
(Jesus walks with them)
To the victims of welfare feel we living in hell here, hell yea
(Jesus walks with them)
Now hear Ye hear Ye wanna see Thee more clearly
I know He hear me when my feet get weary
Cause we’re the almost nearly extinct
We rappers are role models we rap we don't think
I ain't here to argue about his facial features
Or here to convert atheists into believers
I'm just tryin to say the way school need teachers
The way Kathy Lee needed Regis that's the way I need Jesus
So here go my single dawg radio needs this
They said you can rap about anything except for Jesus
That means guns, sex, lies, video tape
But if I talk about God my record won't get played huh
Well if this take away my from spins
Which will probably take away from my ends
Then I hope it take away from sins
And bring the day that I’m dreamin about
Next time I'm in the club everybody screamin out

{Chorus 2}

(Jesus Walks)
God show me the way because the devil try to break me down
(Jesus Walks with me)
The only thing that I pray is that my feet don't fail me now
(Jesus Walks)
And I don’t think there’s nothing I can do to right my wrong
(Jesus Walks with me with me with me with me)
I wanna talk to God but I’m afraid cause we ain’t spoke in so long .....

3. Ahh, the theme is the PASSION of the Kanye!
In that context, it makes sense.

I always pictured Jesus as looking a bit more like a young Yassir Arafat, myself...

28. Both of them are great
I still can't believe neither Kanye nor Green Day won album of the year but instead they gave it to another one of those cheesy let's sing a duet of already released materials with major name in the music industry (I love Ray Charles but that album he put out last year was not that great, but I guess it was sentimental with the movie and his death)

13. Oh yeah! You ought to hear the outrage on Craigslist,Rant & Rave.
Calling Rolling Stone a "godless publication and calling Kayne a murderer, drug addict and sex-crazy child molestor."
Gotta love the RW reaction to a fucking magazine cover!

14. Claims he is not complaisant. Neither was Jesus. Would have been
so easy not to say anything when Katrina riped open the heart of a city and George Bush saw opportunity for private corporations instead of a problem that needed fixing and all the political gods working to that end immediately and with "everything they got". Would have been easy to not go out on a limb. Very few people would speak out public ally against George Bush's myth machine.

In other news.. the NAACP now gets to talk to the WH on occasion. They are no longer totally shut out. Which had been the Rove plan to diminish the NAACP and create black leaders they could "work through" & "control" aka "mega-church billionaries".

West? Maybe not Jesus - but some sorta angel/imperfect human.

17. I've been searching for a long time for a poster of a "black Jesus"
for my meditation room. Kanye's locks aren't long enough and he doesn't look Jewish (no intent to offend here), but I prefer the way he looks than the pretty boy pose I'm used to seeing of the light-haired, fair-skinned, blue-eyed Jesus with the delicate features.

25. Good perdiction! Personally, it is neither offensive or
inspiring. But I hated "The Passion of the Christ," fundies loved it but it was not very faithful to the New Testament. "The Passion" was way to violent, while the scriptures are restrained and succint. So, if it's making fun of the movie, then okay, but still it is not a good parody.

rather than Jesus himself.

And a damn fine job of it, too. Sure to rankle the fundies.

29. Could someone get his EGO under control??
Someone make it stop!

It's kind of strange, knowing that he professes to be a Christian and would pose for a pic like that, but whatever.

The larger issue is that he's such an egomaniac. He has serious, serious issues, and everyone keeps stroking his ego. Thanks a lot Rolling Stone, now he'll be wearing that crown for weeks and showing that pic to everyone! I understand that his mouth was wired shut, I understand that he was so driven and blah blah blah blah, but the way he sulks about not getting awards, the way his world revolves completely around himself...his complete inability to dance alone! Oh!

I'm a megalomaniac myself, but even I know when it's too much!
