I haven't got my laptop back from the shop yet, but I managed to resurrect my old, broken PC, so I can at least check email, and, of course, DU.
What's new with me? Well, not much, except...
(keep in mind I'm a fairly swarthy, burly guy). Someone I know in Extras Casting contacted me the other day. I worked with her a few years ago, but not lately. To what end, then, was she looking for me?
Her: "Don't take this as odd, but I rmember you having rather beautiful hands. I'd like to use you as a hand double" (and get this part) "for a woman". A well-known actress, to boot. Sorry, I can't say who it is.
So I have girly hands! Who knew?!
After a quick trip to an aesthetics salon, on the production company's dime, I might add, I was waxed from the elbows down (OWCH-H-H!!) and given a full-on manicure by an unsettlingly gorgeous Thai esthetician named "Sonja". Then it was off to the set makeup trailer, where I was outfitted with a complete set of ruby-red false nails, and given a quick makeup session on my hands and forearms, to make my skin-tone slightly lighter.
I waited all day to be used, and didn't feel much like venturing from my trailer, with my painted nails and all. I couldn't even check my messages, because I couldn't dial the phone with the extra long fleshspades I was equipped with. I tried using a pencil, my knuckles, and even, finally, my nose, but without success. How do women DO that every day?!
I seriously waited for eight hours, then they called me to set, shot one close-up "insert" shot of my hands opening an envelope with a silver letter opener, and then they cut me loose, some $800 richer than when I arrived!
And, believe it or not, that's the most exciting thing that's happened to me all week. Possibly ever.
