But I don't see American boys playing Soccer - it simply isn't the #1 sport and won't draw the big talents. Women's soccer is another matter; the US team is probably the best in the world - one game says little about the quality of a team.
As for brews: there are many German brews that are no better than Bud (rather worse, as they aren't tasteless). There are many microbrews (American and German)far superior to what the big German brewers produce, let alone export. The problem with comparing beer is: it doesn't travel well. Most beers taste OK where they are produced, few do so abroad. I was quite shocked, when I opened my SamAdams and Labatt bottles here. (urgs)
On Edit: That's why I would never dream on buying a German brews in the Netherlands, France, the UK (ok - maybe there, as I don't like British brews and buy Irish when in the UK) and the US (wasn't there since reaching 21, more a promise for the future). My top5 beers include a Dutch and a French brand.
