"Get a hair cut!"
Edited on Sat Jul-26-03 06:31 PM by Sophree
That's what some girl yelled at me and a couple friends out the window of a passing car as we were walking down the street.

I was with 2 guy friends. One obviously has very short hair. The other one has curly hair that is a little longer, but definitely not long by any means.

And I'm a GIRL. :wtf: I have shoulder-length hair.

I don't even know where to begin. I had a batik, long dress on. Definitely hippie-wear. My guy friends were dressed in regular clothes- Slacks, polo-type t-shirts.

What is this 1967?????

Have we really regressed this far?

Was she talking to me and that's the best anti-hippie epithet she could come up with?

Have I EVER heard this in real life?

Did I ever think I would hear this spoken outside of "The Doors" movie?

You know when those moments happen and they catch you off guard and you come up with something great to say afterwards?

Here's a few for her, Neanderthal Chick:

How's Joe McCarthy doing?

Is this your swastika? I think you dropped it when you fell off your barstool, you slutty drunk.

Oh, and Ann Coulter says you give lousy head. :freak:

Oops, I meant to post this in the Lounge. Mods, can you move it?

1. I have noticed a preponderance of shaved heads in my area.
A few years ago they were called skin-heads and their philosophy is radical right and neo-nazi. I don't know if this still holds true or it's just a new fad.

12. the skinhead thing
was back in the 80s, and in Germany (where it's still the 80s, Hasselhoff-wise). By FAR the vast majority of shaved heads these days are shaved for reasons of convenience and style, not race-hate.

2. Do you have any bumperstickers on the car?
Being called a long hair may just be another way of calling you a free thinker who actually questions war.

I was walking down the street.

6. Ooo, that would have been good
But she was in a passing car. I looked at my friends, like, Who was she talking to?

And by then the car had already passed.

8. Not to worry... I always come up with great responses...
after the moment has passed.

And yes - sometimes the comment inviting these responses are so unexpected, and so stunning or bizzare that they take a moment just to recover from the "did I really just hear that?" moment.

7. Definitely defective
That's good, too!

Her parents are most likely Bush/Rushbots. That's all I can guess.

10. Easy Rider
That's the other movie I was thinking of.

That's the thing, part of me wants to just laugh it off. The other part of me remembers where this kind of thinking can lead.

Welcome to DU, BTW. :hi:

11. My god, no one's said that in thirty years
Maybe she just came out of a time bubble, like Austin Powers.

13. George Thorogood put it best..
I was a rebel from the day I left school
Grew my hair long and broke all the rules
I'd sit and listen to my records all day
With big ambitions of where I could play

My parents taught me what life was about
So I grew up the type they warned me about
They said my friends were just an unruly mob
And I should get a haircut and get a real job

Get a haircut and get a real job
Clean your act up and don't be a slob
Get it together like your big brother Bob
Why don't you get a haircut and get a real job

I even tried that 9 to 5 scene
I told myself that it was all a bad dream
I found a band and some good songs to play
And now I party all night, I sleep all day

I met this chick, she was my No.1 fan
She took me home to meet her mommy and dad
They took one look at me and said "oh my god"
Get a haircut and get a real job

Get a haircut and get a real job
Clean your act up and don't be a slob
Get it together like your big brother Bob
Why don't you get a haircut and get a real job

I hit the big time with my rock 'n' roll band
The future's brighter now than I'd ever planned
I'm ten times richer than my big brother Bob
And he, he's got a haircut, he's got a real job

Get a haircut and get a real job
Clean your act up and don't be a slob
Get it together like your big brother Bob
Why don't you get a haircut and get a real job

15. Reminds me of that Ozzie Osbourne joke
Can't remember which comic it was- "Look, this is what happens when you waste your life away- You get Ozzie's life."

Great lyrics, BTW.
