'Love Monkey' lads show promise in quest for sex and next big thing

Love Monkey: Drama, 10 p.m. Tuesdays, CBS.

If you didn't already know that the new CBS series "Love Monkey" was based on a popular "guy-lit" novel by Kyle Smith, you might optimistically (and accurately) think it's a pretty impressive American TV knockoff of Nick Hornby's "High Fidelity."
Not bad, that.

It certainly beats being called the male version of "Sex and the City," as tiring a comparison as one can make with such little effort.

Like enduring this insufferable twit's "acting" for like 18 years on Beverly Hills, 90210 wasn't enough torture?

Next they'll give Tori Spelling something to do besides bad Lifetime "Woman in Crisis" flicks...

And yes, I used to watch 90210. First of all, I was living in Japan, and there were very few American shows broadcast in English, and second, when it comes to ultra-ultra-bad TV, I have a masochistic streak, and 90210 reached new levels of bad every week.

2. Third from the left.
I thought his aura of untalentedness would give him away.

His tedious sideburns, along with those of fellow 90210-ite, Luke Perry (the next James Dean®, 1992 version) created a minor sensation among the teenybopper set.

I didn't catch the show until it was at the height of its absurdity in the late 90's, not long before its pathetic, long-overdue death.

4. I had a crush on him when I was 9
I'm quite embarrassed but I was young and 90210 was all the rage... :hide: I have much more sophisticated taste in men now

5. He had one of the most fitting surnames ever - Priestley.
He was always so sanctimonious on that show, and despite his history with DUI, etc, he's kinda that way in real life. Screw-ups in my own life have given me a kind of humility, but with Hollywood types, it's just another tool in the old publicity kit.

But I guess the guy's gotta make a living.

At least he's not making direct-to-video fundie apocalypse rapture movies like that kid from Growing Pains...

7. What amazes me is that he's kept the same helmet hair for 15 years.
Okay, so he dropped the sideburns, but really, try a caesar, a mullet, grow it all out, a shaggy 'do, whatever, but that freaking plastic hair bugs me!
