Happy Saturday!
I just got back from a very stimulating and inspiring town-hall meeting. Our local "out-of Iraq" function was this weekend rather than last.

I got to listen to some of our local political candidates including one who is running for Governor. The turnout was good, and there was a great dialogue between the audience and speakers. It was a most passionate and enjoyable kick-off to the weekend.

I don't have much else planned. My husband took our oldest son to the hospital to visit my FIL, who had a quadruple bypass on Thursday, my littlest guy is sleeping, and my daughter is tired and lazy, so I'm just vegetating.

What's everyone else up to? :bounce:

1. Starting to clean house and get it ready to put on the market
fun stuff...

Think I might stop and take a nap.

3. Ugh. A nap sounds like a pertinent diversion.
I don't envy you the work of preparing to sell your home. I remember when I was a teenager and my parents sold our house. I got recruited to repaint all the upstairs ceilings. Not even halfway through, my back and shoulders were so tight and sore, it felt as though my muscles were about to convulse under the strain. I was poor at pacing myself.:eyes: still am. Take it easy!

2. Eating lunch, poking around on the computer, writing a withdrawal letter
for my application to UW-Madison Law School, taking a shower.

Exciting stuff.

4. Madison, eh?
Fun school! You sure you don't want to go there? (Or has it become more tame than it was ten years ago?)

6. Eh, I'm 30, in Milwaukee and not interested in commuting or moving.
Or partying much, for that matter.

(Besides, Marquette made me an offer I would be VERY DUMB to refuse.)

7. Congratulations! You must be excited!
I'm not quite thirty yet, but I understand the aversion to partying with twenty-year-olds. There's quite a chasm of maturity between those years. The twenty-year-old me would be quite bored by the current me, I'm sure (although I am quite certain that I'm far cooler than she was!)

10. Thanks! I am quite excited.
I know what you mean -- even though I think Me at 30 is actually pretty close to how Me at 20 predicted I'd be (assuming you take out years 26-28 or so).

When I took my tour of Marquette, one of the people in my group was around 20/21, and there with his mom, who asked all the questions. I had to ask specifically: "I'm a nontraditional student. I will be living with a significant other and, part-time, a small child. For stress relief, I bake bread rather than get drunk. What sorts of support structures and work/life issues can I expect?" (The tour guide was a student in his late 20s and married, so he had a decent answer.)

12. I start classes this week and rather chuckled when I got an
invitation for some "new student" events that were upcoming. They were definitely geared toward the 18-20 crowd and their parents, not 28-year-old transfer students with three children of their own. I am beyond thrilled to be returning to school as well, though!

I hope it goes well for you and that you enjoy the journey!

15. You too! Good luck!
My SO is a nontraditional student (undergrad) with a child of his own, and even the support groups for student-parents are more geared toward the 20-year-old who had a kid in high school.

8. No, but I wish he had been there.
I'm so pale he probably would've recruited me for secretary-of-state.

9. Hey Lara! I was just thinking about you
I'm cooking for my tea right now. Potatoes, broccoli & cauliflower cooked Indian style with rice. I got some cleaning to do also, and then I want to shave my head. Maybe I'll post a picture afterwards. ;)

13. Yay! Yes do it, so I can fawn!
:D On another enthralling note, I also had broccoli and potatoes for lunch (in a mediocre low-cal cheese sauce, though.) I forgot to eat breakfast today and drank WAY too much coffee and I was beginning to look as though I was developing Parkinson's, so I could stomach about anything that would make me stop quaking.

11. Serious candidates showed up at a peace rally?
I wish that happened in my town. They would all be too scared to be seen at one.
