I just told my dog he shouldn't eat so fast
and that he should chew more slowly and enjoy his food. Am I crazy?

3. Did the dog say anything back?
That's when you have to worry about being crazy.

4. No, he's just lying down at his empty bowl staring at me and whining
which means "I'm still hungry".

5. I'm hungry too
the staring and whining thing never worked for me so I guess I'll fix myself something.

6. put his food on a cookie sheet
in a single layer. This forces him to eat more slowly and hopefully will give his brain time to register that he's full.

I do this for my cats to keep them from gacking all over the house. They inhale their food.

7. I give my dog treats
Take an empty pringles can and put a handful of food in it, block it with a crumpled up junk mail or some such. The dog has to eat slower then as she tears the can open and teases the food out of it. At least a little bit slower. She thinks it is great fun too, even if it is just plain old food in the can. It gives me a mess to pick up too.

8. Not at all, my old Phart understands the word chew perfectly
When he gulps the first of his vitamins and brewer's yeast, I say chew and he'll chew the rest. Does it too with treats.

But he won't chew on his Bubbie.

10. Mine is practically deaf, so I am really saying things
for my own benefit.

I can hear his thoughts though. We're like an old married couple.

11. It is a well known fact that dogs drive thier people slowly insane.
If you're not crazy yet, you're probably getting there.
