Cold wind on the water, and rain on the road

Wet promise of winter brings recourse to coal
There's a fire in the blood and a fog on Bras d'Or
The giant will rise with the moon.

It's the same ancient fever from the isles of the blessed
That our fathers brought with them when they "went west"
It's the blood of the druids that never will rest
The giant will rise with the moon.

CHORUS: So crash the glass down, move with the tide
Young friends and old whiskey are burning inside
Crash the glass down, Fingal will rise ... with the moon.

In inclement weather the people are fey
Three thousand year stories as the night slips away
To think of old Fingal seems not far away
The giant will rise with the moon.

The wind's from the north, there'll be a new moon tonight
But we have no circle to dance in its sight
So light a torch, bring a bottle, and build the fire bright
The giant will rise with the moon.

-Stan Rogers

2. I also have always loved.
The evening star must be drooping and shedding her sparkler dims on the prairie which is just before the coming of complete night that blesses the earth, darkens all the rivers, cups the peaks and folds the final shore in, and nobody, nobody knows what's going to happen to anybody besides the forlorn rags of growing old. I think of Dean Moriarty, I even think of Old Dean Moriarty the father we never found. I think of Dean Moriarty.

4. I would have liked to have known Neil,
before he became a Ken Kesey joke. They all ripped him off, used him, then left.

15. Well that goes both ways...
I can only imagine how difficult these days are for you. Witnessing your strength is an inspiration to all of us to keep going even though things may look bleak. :yourock:

How are things on your home front?

18. Still wrangling with red tape.
Some good things from FEMA, but still uncertainties and delays that don't make any sense.

I'm still in the fight, it is just some times I get tired and need to take a break.

Again, thanks for asking and for caring so much.

I think you rock too :yourock:

16. The wind has been howling all day here, too.
Sleet was coming down when I took my recycling out this afternoon. Looks like winter is making another visit.

11. Thanks for Stan Rogers, Hadn't thought of him for awhile
He was at Kerrville and died not long after that. There is still a Stan Rogers tree that folks play music under the limbs...good stuff.

17. What a lovely tribute to him...
I had never heard of him; but bought one of his tapes (Fogarty's Cove) on a whim...I just "got a good feeling about it".

I'm so glad I did! :D
