apparentely old Fred is upset about the Episcopal church's convention there with an openly gay bishop and some ELCA churches that have ordained gays and lesbians. I'd love to counter-protest those fucks but I'm stuck at home. My friend in Minneapolis is going to Krazyfest then. ugh.

that means they will at least not be on my streets for a few days. Believe me, we have not been able to do anything about them. It seems to work best to just ignore them and support the people they are harassing. My friend is often the target of their protests and he told me that his business does its best the days these guys are out front of his store. He says half the town comes in to support him. We have lived with them as a daily sight on our main streets for years, at every event. I have to walk through them when I play concerts. I wish they would drop off the face of the earth. BTW, they now have a new sign (I looked yesterday, normally I don't) for lesbians. A standing silouette with a ponytail and a kneeling one with a ponytail. I was able to explain the other sign when my boys were very young as leap frog, this one would be more difficult.

Let's skip right past the insanity of the concept that God created a class of people predestined to be hated and reviled. Some things are just too bizarre to contemplate.

What gets me is, who the hell has so much time on their hands that they can bounce around the country pulling this stupid crap? Are they paid professional fools, or are they really "normal" citizens who devote their weekends to acting foolish in public? Political activism is one thing. Sexual activism doesn't even get a twitch out of my give-a-shit-ometer.

And secondly, what kind of sicko sits around contemplating the sex lives of strangers to the extreme that they could get this wound up about somebody liking the "wrong" flavor. Sounds like time for some folks to take up a hobby. My suggestion is rock climbing or volcano watching. Maybe lion baiting.

13. When Fred comes to town

Ah.. Fred. Such a nutcase. I was in a local production of the "Laramie Project" and had heard rumors about him coming to town to protest the play because it was about Matthew Shepard. Some gay rights groups have done some ingenious things such as setting up a table for donations for however long that fool and flock stays there and speaks. I have heard they have made some moola from it.

Fred is one fucked up piece of work. But I don't need to to convince anyone here of that.
