I protested my local church for stem cell
Hey everyone I feel great I had a showdown today with a priest and two deacons over stem cell research. I told you all yesterday about how my legs were frozen together and I couldn't walk so I am forced to be in a wheel chair for alittle while. Anyhow I followed my bud's Perky's advice and put a sign on the back of my chair which read "Ask me about Stem Cell Research."
Anyhow as soon as I got through the doors Father Tom and Deacon Bob and some other guy asked me too take off the sign. I said "I respectively cannot do that father I am exercising my right as an american to free speech. Just like you guys do at clinics."
Father Tom than said "Well I wont give you communion today,"
"I said gee father I thought crippled poor people were among Jesus favorites."
Anyhow my mom and sister were getting upset with me and showed me to the back of the church for a seat. So anyway I wheeled myself into Father Tom's line and waitted for communion. I wouldn't leave so hey finally gave me a wafer I said bless you father.
Now after wards we went out to eat at the local dinner for lunch. Deacon Bob and the other guy was there and he said "That was quite a stunt you pulled what's next."
I said "I dont know I belong to a website (DU) with seventy thousand plus people on it. I was thinking of blocking your parking lot, putting up graphic pics and interrupt mass from the outside."
So Bob gets really angry and than I said.
"Just Kidding only the self righteous prolife movmement would do something that classless."
so both deacons looked at my mom and said "Can you do something with this guy?"
And she said "He's an adult you handle it." They both walked away. I tell you I can move my legs right now but am flying on the inside. It feels so good to stand up to these people.

1. Congrats!!
And especially, thanks for not backing down!

I cannot believe that he would threaten to withhold communion from you! :grr: What an excellent response you gave!

I would imagine that you made more of an impact than you realize. I would also guess that there were many who agreed with you, but didn't have a chance to let you know.

Nothing changes unless we take steps to make it happen. I admire your courage and determination... and I think Jesus is smiling, too. O8)

That took a lot of guts. Good for you; I hope you keep it up. Maybe your brave act will encourage some other people to come forward and join you.

9. Not all catholics realize that there are other places to find them...
And they don't just come from aborted fetuses. Actually, as long as the stem cells DON'T come from an aborted fetus, they are acceptable. Did your sign reflect that you were speaking of stem cells from aborted fetuses? The fixation of Catholics on aborted fetuses is exhausting.

15. No i didnt want to get to controverisial
the sign just ride "Ask me about stem cell research." I mean I cant carry a gun and I failed anatomy and physiology for not disecting a cat. I cant hurt anything or anyone. If it meant hurting "a living breathing person" I wouldnt want the research .

10. Brilliant!
I have MS, and hope that my legs don't end up in that position, but I will remember your ballsiness, and will immediately imitate it!

I'm not afraid of anybody, and I love revealing hypocrisy and bullshit of all types.

Here's to ya, Dan.

I am another "uppity disabled person". My personal fight is the handicapped parking spaces, which I get really uppity about!

I am proud of you!

16. rAmen
You did an amazing job sticking up for your rights, and making headway for disabled people everywhere. :applause: Reminding the Priest and Deacon of their hypocrisy was another fantastic move. Keep up the good work!
