I'm generally not a whore about this sort of thing but considering the way they've set this contest up, the idea is to get votes. So I'm beggin' for the votes!
The contest is set up to select a fan created poster for the official release of the film Silent Hill. I'm not too sure about them actually using anyone's poster, but I wouldn't mind winnin' the $2,500! Plus I don't think my entry is half bad.

I played that game when it came out on PS2, remember the creepy radio, and the never-ending fog?
I enjoyed that game.
One scary creepy game better than resident evil for creepiness
Japanese horror is different and picks different psychological cues than American horror.

Explain how you made the poster for the movie, I'm impressed.
Was it all photoshop CS? Where did you get the original pictures, such as the buildings, the girl and the hands?

The first Silent Hill freaked me out! And the radio option was a pretty unique tool at the time with the way you could use the stereo sound of the TV to locate where the creatures were located in the fog. I remember putting on the headphones, turning off the lights and being creeped out for hours. Thank God for night lights! :P I like the J-Horror that's been coming out. It is more psychologically based where American horror seems to have become "Let's see how many torture scenes we can put in"

Actually the creepiest movie I've seen in ahile is British. It's called The Descent and if you're a horror fan, I strongly recommend picking it up!

The studio provided an assortment of stills from the film that you had to use, including a couple of variations of the title and a billng graphic for the bottom. I used Photoshop 7 for the project but if all goes well, I'm hoping to save up for CS because they've done some pretty nice thngs with the software.

The buildings were from one shot but they only had a shot from one side of the street, so I had to copy and flip those and repaint sections so they wouldn't look too similar. I took the photo of the woman (They're using her to replace the man from the first game), from another shot and dropped her into the bruidling scene. And the shots of the hands were from another still. They noly provided one creature shot (The hands), so it will be interesting to see what the took from the game, creature-wise, when this premieres.

I hope the film keeps the Japanese horror experience and don't make it a slasher movie, because the game
didn't give me that experience.

Someone gave me CS suite as a gift, which is over my head, it does too many things for me to get a handle on it.
I had elements 2 which I was just starting to learn.
I guess I need classes or a good visual tutorial.

Kinda like Resident Evil but less action oriented with a higher level of creepiness. When I played the first game, I had to have a nightlight on for a few days. :scared: :P

Nice poster, however I know it will suck. I mean lets face it: (Video Game)*(Movie)=(Crap). No director/writer for a movie version can just stick with what they already have and always make it more "interesting" or "in depth" or more likely, add characters who never existed in the franchise because they did it on the casting couch. :eyes:

Normally I would agree with you, but reading interviews with Gans and Avary, they're clearly both huge fans of the game and understand what it's about. We're not talking about Paul W.S. Anderson or Uwe Boll here. (Though in the back of my head, I'm preparing to be severely disappointed, haha.)
