Does the Discovery Channel suck these days or what?
Last week, there was a show about a magician trying to emulate the miracles of Jesus. Today, it was something about a HAUNTED HOUSE!

Next time I hear the "we don't need PBS, because we've the Discovery Channel" argument, I'm going to puke.

1. It's sucked for a long time.
Learning Channel used to be good too.

There's only so much "Dysfunctional Bike-Building Family" a person can take...

2. I hate the dysfunctional bike builders, too.
We finally got cable, so I've been subjected to more of this garbage than in the past. Really makes me want to kill my TV (unfortunately my kids would, uh, probably resort to violence if I did)!

10. i know i'm in the minority here
but i find that show entertaining. watching cool bikes being built? i'll take that.

seems to me both channels found a formula that seemed popular, and they ran with it 24/7, i wish they had some variety. i really really hope PBS(which has taken the place of discovery/tlc in science shows) doesn't turn out that way.

3. I wish I had Discovery Wings
But to get it, I gotta get 23 food channels, 41 shopping channels and 373 sports channels (including the Lebanese Dwarf Curling Network).

That wouldn't be so bad, but I'd also have to get Faux "News." Guy's gotta draw the line somewhere.

4. Oh, man--which haunted house special did I miss?
Edited on Tue Jan-03-06 06:01 AM by BlueIris
I actually really like some of the stuff Discovery has aire re: the paranormal. Was it "A Haunting in Connecticut"? 'Cause I've read that that one (there was another "A Haunting in..." installment about a house in Georgia) features a freakish incident toward the end that appears to most non-skeps to be real-time and accurate footage of ghostly phenomenae. Fun. I've been DYING to catch that in reruns and haven't yet. Did you watch enough to know what it was about?

12. I'm still trying to catch that. I never watch television, so I always
forget. I wonder if there are any downloadable archives.

11. WOW! First MTV got rid of videos (the very thing that made them)
now this. Then Bravo became a conduit for such cultural gems as Bobby "Manual Enema" Brown.

What's next? Bible studies on the Playboy Channel?
