I am having great success with my feral trap!
I ordered it over the internet; first I caught an injured tuxedo kitten who I took to the vet......I've named him Riff Raff and adopted him....then I trapped his mom "Spider", got her fixed and released her (she is way to wild to be adopted).....she has resumed feeding on my porch.....I caught one of her kittens by hand a couple weeks ago, took her to the shelter and she was adopted the same day she became eligible.....then this morning there were TWO kittens in the trap, I just took them to the shelter. WOO HOO!!! :D

5. YAY for you !
I wish we had been able to catch our wild ones. We apparently have only Sweetface left. Pirate (her uncle) has not been coming around for a while now. :( I tried so hard to tame her after we trapped her and had her fixed, but she was too feral..She sits on the porch, looking in at her kids I kidnapped, and when she sees me, she runs..

off topic..look what I found.. feel free to use it

6. I see Spider on the porch now with her little calico
that calico is very elusive - have to keep working on her. :)

7. Good going! Excellent!
Do you bait the traps? My pal uses kippers in tomato sauce and she gets good results.

:)

12. Great, isn't it?
We got one of those traps a few years ago...caught and neutered a bunch of puddy tats. I just have two strays these days; the female has been spayed, the boy, still proudly sporting his manly parts.

13. yes
everyone should get one and take care of any strays - think of all the misery it would eliminate. Yes INDEED!

18. Skittles, good to see you!
I hadn't seen you around in a while and had wondered about you. Glad to see you up and kicking!

Way to go with the feral trapping! Those kitties have it bad and anyone that helps them is A-Ok in my book!

22. Havahart.com has traps for those in the USA too, at slightly less cost...
Edited on Sun Jan-01-06 02:06 AM by radwriter0555
they really do work, and altering these cats is the only way to reduce the population.

23. wow, that's a great thing to do!
helps the animals you adopt, keeps the feral population down, and keeps the local fauna from receiving unneeded extra pressure. very good.

... we have feral turkeys in my area apparently. i think this would be a far harder task to trap, fix, and rescue. the local gov't is still trying to figure out what to do. and considering the delicate microsystems of my area it's probably going to get to be quite a problem that might only be fixed with regular gov't culling. anyone figured out how to domesticate feral turkeys?
