1. Backhoe? Or small bulldozer?
High pressure hose might work too, buddy.

Yoiks.

I'm sure someone in GD has a flamethrower you can use for a few hours.

5. You are a brave man, my dear Redstone......
Showing us that......

But you already know that our affection for you would override any disgusting feelings that these messes might engender!

I agree with one of the other posters: I'd use a flamethrower!

J/K.....of course!

Happy Office Cleaning Day!

6. Looks like a job for a "bobcat".
If you EVER get the chance to rent one for a home improvement project DO IT!
I had one for a weekend and did so much work with it. I took out a brick and cement "patio" and buried the debris. Took down a bunch of trees and moved some dirt. I would love to have one just for a toy! They cost less than a Harley!

8. I want a Bobcat so bad...if I ever buy a place with more than the
half an acre that we have now, I WILL have one.

Moving dirt. Plowing snow. Digging postholes. Disking the garden. The possibilities are endless...yes, I WANT one. Have wanted one for a long time.

13. I have 15 acres to work with.
I really want one. I am slowly talking myself into it. I wonder if anyone would care if I dug a moat around the place? The bobcat would be a necessity!

There's all the justification you need.

9. Nope. Mrs R and I did it in half an hour.
She untangled and twist-tied them, and I FINALLLY separated them by function (SCSI, Audio/Video, Ethernet, AAUI, Power, USB/FireWire, etc) and put each coategory into its separate box.

Was surprisingly easy.

11. But I did NOT disturb the Wire City under my computer workstation.
Everything works just fine now, and I know that if I unplug ONE wire or cable and move it two inches, nothing will work tomorrow.

Even though my office is all Macs, that doesn't allow me to escape the curse of Cable Voodoo.

15. You know, I'm fairly astonished
That an upstanding citizen such as yourself would have an office like that ;)

Glad to hear the sorting out went ok!

17. I'm disappointed; I'd have thought that you, of all people, who has
actually SEEN my office in its natural state, would have risen to my defense and upbraided those who would have accused me of slobbery, as much that I may have provoked them into those accusations by my admittedly disingenuous "before" pix, well, I'd have hoped that you would have AT LEAST noted that, slobbery aside, at least there were no COMMIES on the walls of my office.

Not even one. And you can attest to that. Can't you?

18. Well, I of all people, can certainly attest...
To not having seen any commies in said office, though I can also attest to not having done a thorough investigation of the drawers in said office, but one can suppose that such propaganda would be proudly displayed, and not merely relegated to the likes of some pseudo-shameful place within a drawer.

Though, if said item were to be hidden, one supposes it would be hidden in the shirt, though which of the shirts would be the correct one to hide such an item within, I cannot profess to know. But the dude would know, wouldn't he, and you could ask him, and do, please, if you get the chance....

16. Actually, guys, it looked much worse than it was, because of my

cleaning method: Take EVERYTHING out of the main office, including from file cabinets and drawers, by quadrants, and deposit it on the floor of the outer office, or elswhere in the main office.

Then sort, dispose of, and re-arrange everything, and return it to the quadrant from which it was taken.

Mrs R always nags me to take a half-hour each day to put things away, but I pointed out to her that doing my Deep Cleaning Method once a quarter takes much less time (one day) than that half-hour a day would have added up to.

And at the end of that day, I end up with an office that looks like it usually does, minus the clogged file drawers and storage cabinets:

You guys didn't REALLY think I'd have an office that looked like the prior pictures, did you? (And thanks SO much for the "disgusting" comment, CP. I'll remember that.) Not that it's easy to fit three computers, three printers, two scanners, six external hard drives, a tabletop photographic studio, and all the other stuff needed to support that equipment in a 24-by-16-foot space.

Though I have to admit that it's a constant source of amazement to me how much STUFF it takes to run a business like mine. But I guess if you divide the amount of stuff by the amount of billing dollars in a year, it's not that bad. There's a hell of a lot of $$ that moves through those two rooms in a year.

No, I'm not a slob. But it was fun making you all think that I am.

I don't need no stinking backhoe. I need an Archeologist. ;-)

I'd give the Queer Eye guys a nervous breakdown.

Not even a small front-end-loader would fit.
