We have a new member of the family

Isn't she cute?? My husband brought her home the day before Christmas/Chanukkah. Her name is Jasmine and we just love her. She's a mini-dachshund - black and tan piebald. Just thought I would share her picture with y'all

I'm not really a dog person, but some times, for portions of their lives, I go a little crazy for them.

20. Our Jasmine had a pattern on her back
that looked like a backwards J. So we knew whatever we named her had to start with J.

We call her Jazzie for short.

25. I once helped babysit a dachshund named Bandit.
Bandit was a handful, but his energy helped me do something with my nervous energy. You pup is adorable, btw. I'm more of a cat person, but I like little doggies (and big ones) too.

29. A house with dachshund = happy home
Hard to be depressed with a dachshund around - best little animals in the world. Jasmine is too cute for words, but she does have "the look".

If you've had dachshunds before, you can skip the following, but if you're new to Dachshundworld, may I offer some advice to help her avoid back problems down the road? Start early with back preservation! Don't let her jump on and off furniture (sofas, beds, chairs) or fly off the 5th step on the stairs. This is going to sound crazy, but if you let her sleep on your bed, make her a little ramp so she's not jumping off of it. She'll be fine jumping when she's young, but it puts stress on those badly-designed little backs. Once she's an adult, keep her weight as low as you can; if you can avoid feeding her ourside her regularly scheduled meals, that will help both with weight and with begging.

She is just the dearest little thing - I am so envious of you guys! (just spent Christmas with my parents and their happy little dachshund Frankie)

31. She's got that "I'm ready to take a poop" look on her face
of course something that small probably pops out something the size of a raisen.

But she's absolutely adorable!

my puppy is 8 months and every day gets better and better. I never had little dogs before, and I will never have anything but one now. The cuddling is divine and they want it all the time.....heaven. Congratulations to your family.
