1. Well, I have a couple of gifts that I gave that I loved.......
One to each of my daughters: To my older daughter, a sterling pin based on a design by Edward Gorey, called the Doubtful Guest.

And to my younger daughter, a set of stainless steel measuring spoons. They are heavy stainless, and will no doubt be passed on to future generations; no cheap plastic here!

or so. damn, i got them 5 minutes after they went on sale. in another 10 minutes, all gone, except single tickets.
it should be interesting to see how NYers react to Damon, whatever it takes to twist the knife harder, i guess.
i can't believe he's cleaned up pretty nice. what is up with the Sox's hair? it's really disturbing.

6. My wife has always wanted a "Gone With The Wind" lamp
I finally got around to buying one for her. Here's what they look like:

Here is the type I bought:

She loves it and I like it too. It goes well with the other antiques we have.

12. sleds are great gifts -
they are timeless - I gave my daughter an L. L. Bean sled when she was 4 years old - now her daughter (my granddaughter) uses it. I gave my best friend a calender with pictures of outhouses - but I would love to have it! I gave another friend the newest book by Anne Rivers Siddons - but I want to read it as soon as she is finished. I think I have to love all the gifts I give to others -

13. Nephew is 2. Obsessed with anything to do with trains, especially "Thomas"
the train from the TV kid's show... So my wife finds this online...

It's battery operated and you RIDE IN IT. And it comes with track. Apparently it runs off of the track as well if you want. I told my sister (kid's mom) that she didn't have to tell him that it runs without the track (I'm envisioning him barging into their bedroom on it at 5 AM).

They were probably ready to have a heart attack when the box arrived at their house.
