The Stills - "Allison Krausse"
Head Automatica - "Please Please Please"
Death From Above 1979 - "Turn it Out"
Idiot Pilot - "Sparkplug"
The Mooney Suzuki - "Alive and Amplified"
The Lost Patrol - "Thoughts On Fire"
John Frusciante - "The Slaughter"
The Mars Volta - "Frances The Mute" (the song, not the whole album)

38. Is he not still in the Fall?
My copy of "Heads Roll" is a promo, no lineup info. I just always figured Scanlon for a perennial.

But hey, wasn't that actually Brix's riff?

39. Nope. Scanlon was sacked after Cerebral Caustic, if I remember
Edited on Tue Dec-27-05 03:15 AM by jpgray
They've got Ben Pritchard on guitar last I checked. Stephen Hanley and everyone else quit after Mark's incident with his girlfriend (roundabouts Levitate) and they change bassists every week or two it seems like, so I don't have much of an idea who's in the band currently.

:dunce:

I always assumed the line was Scanlon's but I really have no idea. I guess it reminds me more of the things the Fall did in the earlier eighties (like "Wings") when Brix wasn't as big a factor in the songwriting. Right or wrong, when I think Brix I think something like "Dead Beat Descendant." Now someone will come along and tell me that's Scanlon's riff...

37. I DO like Andre.
Saw him a few years ago in a club with a legal capacity of 75, with some Detroit garage wannabe jerkoffs backing him up. Nevertheless, he was brilliant. Because he's Andre.

I see 30 songs and groups that I have never heard of, except for the kinks. I have 147 hours of music on my computer and more CDs that I need to download, but I may not be able to come up with 10 songs you would want to hear.

40. Just one: Cookie: "Black and Blue For You"
http://www.cookiefactory.com/music/black_n_blue.mp3
No it is not "metal", just pure butt wagging "rock"...
I just love these guys....go listen. (Real Player needed)

Black and Blue for you
Why am I stooped there really close to you?
I would have done it all for you
If you had asked me to!
You don't consider trust to be
that precious thing it is to me.
I won't go back
and now I'm black
and blue for you.

Crash and burn in life.
Drinking yourself to sleep at night.
Giving me bad advice.
Making the same mistakes a hundred times!
I should have seen this coming long ago,
Back in the days of the buffalo.
Why do I always wind up black and blue for you?

(wonderful '60s California surf style guitar solo)

So have a piece of your own advice:
I hope it knocks you right between the eyes
and don't come back
because I'm black
and blue for you!

I swear to God I will do well!
I'll forget you put me through this hell
and when I do
I won't be black and blue
for you.
Say when I do
I won't be black and blue
for you.
