Heartwarming, really

So the rental house next to me has a family displaced by Katrina. They're over 1,000 miles from home and they don't have much. I was in my backyard yesterday and two of the girls came over. They wanted to know what they could get my dogs for Christmas. I'm a cynical sort but that really did remind me that there are some good things about this season.

Even a small gift, like coupons to fast-food places, can bring lots of smiles. :)

6. Hey; taterguy...

I would be interested in seeing what they need as a family and maybe sending them a care package. Not right now; but at some point I'd like to discuss this--I don't want you to feel like you have to tell me where you or they live; so maybe a P.O. box or such can be provided. I have lots of coupons and etcetera I am sure they can use; and have already donated here at home. We'll talk soon if that's ok....

I think most of their needs are being taken care of by local churches and service organizations but if they need anything we can arrange an exchange at the Salem Lake bike path, which is halfway between us based on our profiles :) Anyone else that feels inspired to help Katrina folks could call their local chapter of the Red Cross
