A broke Courtney Love wants to sell Nirvana song catalog for $100 million
New York Post excerpt via "The Superficial"...

http://www.thesuperficial.com/

Courtney Love is broke and wants to raise cash by selling her rights to the song catalog of her late husband, Kurt Cobain, and Nirvana. Sources say Love, whose Crosby Street apartment was in foreclosure earlier this year, is looking for $100 million. This should come as salt in the wounds of Nirvana's Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Chad Channing, who fought with Love for years over control of the songs and over royalties.

1. Can't wait to watch this fight.
Grohl has been hating her for years. Might get really interesting to hear what he and Novoselic have to say.

2. Don't forget Channing.
The best drummer Nirvana ever had. Grohl never did it for me. I wonder sometimes if Chad stayed on with the group until Kurt's death.

4. Why can't Grohl and the rest team up and buy the rights?
They're part of the group as well and people treat Kobain like some sort of god anyway... so I doubt he's broke.

5. They did, they lost, this has all been adjudicated.
Kurt(who is some sort of god anyway) ain't broke, Courtney (the definition of car wreck) is.

The girl got the rights, if she needs to sell 'em, let her. Nobody's business but hers....

Khash.

8. If she had a decent financial advisor that she didn't keep FIRING, she
could easily turn his legacy into a gold mine, like the presley family did.... but she's too addled to figure out how to do this, poor thing.

100 million won't last long with her, she'll blow through that in 5 years.

10. So true--
I didn't know she kept firing financial advisors.

I agree with you, she could turn his legacy into something worthy and financially lucrative if... It pisses me off as a fan of Nirvana and an occasional fan of some of her artistic statements, for lack of any other way to put it.

Nothing seems to last long in Courtney's world. Her film career POOF! Her music career POOF!

But in support of your point, did you know that Tupac Shakur's estate is worth millions now? His mother has worked with great financial advisors and is a savvy business woman in her own right. I don't recall the amount, but when I saw this I was blown away. It was discussed on a show about the legacy of deceased musicians, artists, actors, etc. (i.e. Tupac, Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, etc.)

Just when I start to feel truly sorry for Courtney, she does something that just pisses me off.

11. That was my thought, too....
...she'll blow right through the 100 million.

12. I saw a couple of her appearances on Stern--
she spends ridiculous amounts of money on the oddest things. I guess that's par for the course as a celebrity, but she wasn't really considered 'A' list, so to speak. She's not earning what a 'Ben Affleck' or even Madonna makes...

9. I guess selling drugs would violate her prohbation?

Seriously though, if the former bandmates don't get them, I'm done defending Courtney--may she burn in hell. There's nothing more evil than taking the rights of music away from those that had a hand in creating it. Jmo.

May she go to that special place in hell, reserved for Michael Jackson for outbidding Paul McCartney on the Beatles catalogue way back when.

:grr:
