if you didn't live in such a nasty cesspool, you wouldn't HAVE to be 'strong' :hide:

6. well if you lived in NYC, you'd have a 2 hour walk and could call him
on your cellphone while you were walking to somewhere.

5. It's a myth
The "tough" New Yorker stereotype (which is perpetuated by New Yorkers, naturally) is a myth. 9-11 proved that. They were as scared and shakened just as much as any other human being should have been.

It is a cesspool. I sure as hell didn't bleed for the wealthy Manhattanites who had to walk in the bitter cold to work during the strike. :hide:

11. ZW, I couldn't disagree more.
But I think this is typical of all big cities. I was there for Thanksgiving and it was so cold, so crowded, so crappy. I don't know how people live there. If I had to go to the grocery store every day, I would slit my throat.

And, unfortunately, I don't think the wealthy Manhattanites walked at all. If you are wealthy, you have a car service pick you up. If you aren't, you walked.

13. Yeah, there were lots of ordinary workers walking
So I felt bad for them, although I supported the strike.

It may be wishful thinking about the Manhattanites... a Zomby can dream under the influence of NyQuil, can't he? ;-)

We agree on cold, crowded, and crappy. :D

16. I have two brothers who live there.
One is a widower with a three year old and he had to stay home from work because his nanny couldn't get in from Queens. She is a really wonderful person, really loves my little niece and my brother is still going to pay her, but I kept thinking about all the other people like her who weren't going to get paid and how this holiday season would be affected.

Another friend of mine said it reminded him a little of 9/11, because of the lack of cars and the tremendous amount of people walking. He said it was a bit eerie.

And, I did support the strike...but it seems that the little guy always ends up on the screwed end in this country. Never the fat cat.

Hope you feel better soon!!!

:hi:
