Just spent a ton of money at DSW for shoes  But how could I turn down those Stuart Weitzman pumps that were 80% off

9. LOL, OK Mrs. Marcos....
Too bad you didn't bring a pair for me! I was the most illy clad of our bunch that night. Wearing those ridiculous shoes of my neice's ... what was I thinking?

But getting back to your post... What's a few extra pairs among friends?

11. You got a nice dress out of that deal
I loved that dress but I realized I'm not going to be that size again for awhile.

When are you coming down to visit your uncle again?

13. Thanks for the dress
I was very lucky at a time like that to have a friend like you. I'll tell you a secret though...I don't fit into it any more either. (Do you want it back?- You could PM me your address)

OR could we make a pact to eventually get into it again. Easier said then done I know, but even if it takes 30+ years we'll do it. Who cares if it's 40 years out of syle by then :-) )I won't get into it unless you can and vice versa. What do ya think? It could be like 'the sisterhood of the traveling dress'.

17. DEAL!
But remember, neither of us can wear it unless the other can. And don't be so sure about my abilities to meet this challenge. Almost 2 years ago I was diagnosed with an illness. The meds from it make it hard to keep the weight off.

As far as my remaining family in Philly, most of them our in their graves and my uncle- the one you met and the only close remaining Philly relative has already had his 2nd heart attack. He also sold his apartment on (Chestnut St?) and lives outside the city. And to think MY family used to own the DuPont lands. :-(

I boohoo all the time, so enough of this. Thanks again for the dress,

Imelda.....

8. The Nordstrom shoe department
is torturous for me. Unfortunately, I can't wear the cute pointy-toed or stiletto heel shoes. I have to go for the lower heeled variety. Luckily for me, they're coming back in a big way. These are more my speed: http://www.munroshoes.com/shoes/flats/pirouette.htm.

LynneSin, it's not an addiction. You can stop at any time ;-).

10. These weren't painful pointy shoes
They were a nice pair of work points with a short heel on them - brown suede.

I also got 3 pairs of shoes for summertime which included a pair of sketcher flip-flops, Franco Sarto Sandals and a pair of shoes that are clean plastic (but not like what you'd see in a stripper joint)

That is one heckuva shoe store. My God what a selection. But don't buy there. THe cost will make your purse explode. I like LynneSin's idea of going to DSW. Same shoes - less price

15. Even the Neiman Marcus & Saks outlet could bankerupt you
But I prefer these places & DSW so much more than the main stores. I'm size 11 and it's so humilating to find a pair of shoes you like in the department store and then having to wait for some snooty store clerk to go check in the back and find out that there are no size 11 shoes available.

At least with DSW (and of course the Saks & NM outlets) they have all the shoes on display and you can see right away whether the shoes you like have size 11. I love Coach, Weitzmann, Sarto, BCBG, Kenneth Cole, Lauren and all those shoes because they have size 11. Ann Klein can kiss my ass - those shoes always stop at size 10.

18. Three words for you: Half-Yearly Sale
Nordstrom actually has great sales several times per year. They also carry shoes that actually fit me, so instead of having a zillion pair, I probably have ten.

Did I mention that the guys working in Women's Shoes are usually seriously hot, too?

and gone straight to heaven. I called the S.O. and he said "where ARE you? I was so worried about you - I thought you were going to be home 2 hours ago!"

I explained that I'd stumbled upon a football-field sized store full of deeply discounted shoes and boots, and he just sighed and said "I won't expect you anytime soon."

The cutest shoes I own came from DSW. My weakness is summer slides - cute little slip-on high heels.

Bought a kick-ass pair of stretch fabric boots with high heels and pointy toes last year, and they've made me happier then anything I bought all year.

/yes, that's right, I'm 5'11" and hang out with people who wear Birkenstocks, but I've got a high heel jones. Go figure.

How cute are those?!? The boots are great, too, but I really love the slides.

It's a girly thing.

I'm 5'4" and can't wear high heels. I'm sick with jealousy. ;-)

I left the good stuff at home. Let's just say that every dime that wasn't spent on shoes was spent at the jeweler's :woohoo:! You, of course, were gorgeous in your lavender suit and heels.

I managed to spill Chinaco on myself ;-).

We should all get together again soon in DC! I'll bet there's a shoe store there. I know there's a Nordstrom! ;-)

21. sorry, you're not an addict
Edited on Thu Dec-22-05 05:46 PM by adriennui
an addict in my opinion is someone who gets high or drunk on booze or drugs and whose life has become intolerable.

i don't even find your problem "cute". maybe if you can find it in yourself to do something truly useful for society you'll become less self-involved.

if you can afford the shoes do whatever the hell you want...if you can't it's your narrow little problem and i don't give a damn..

(and I wonder why liberals are so often stereotyped as being terminally serious, humorless and dull)

Okay, you're new, adriennui, so let me explain:

This is the Lounge. We are allowed to be silly in the Lounge. We're allowed to talk about shoes, food, really stupid TV shows, all those fun little self-involved topics.

Everything except explicit sex and chicken recipes (don't even ask)

The serious area of DU is set up over in GD - you might prefer the tone over there - much less frivolous. There is also an addiction area in "groups", where real-life addictions are discussed with the seriousness they deserve.

Regularly raining on parades in the Lounge is considered an "ignore button" offense.

Please don't insult a thread of women who are having a bit of fun in a place it's appropriate to do so.

I hope that you will have a better evening, and Happy Holidays to you and yours.

27. Patiod, JulieRB - thank you so much
Shopping is actually a form of addiction; however, I don't think I'm quite there yet.

I appreciate both of you having my back. I'm not a rich person which is why I go to DSW but it's a thrill when you can dig up a good bargain and share it with others who appreciate why you posted this thread.

I guess all that ranting I do in GD/GDP about getting a democratic majority is just frivolous lark

29. Lynne, we all love a great bargain
>I'm not a rich person which is why I go to DSW but it's a thrill when you can dig up a good bargain and share it with others who appreciate why you posted this thread.<

I told DH that bargain hunting is a woman's version of "fish stories" -- you know, "I caught a fish THIS BIG." There is nothing quite like finding the bargain of the year and talking it over with the girlfriends, especially if it's something you've had your eye on for awhile!

pssst....just for the girlfriends...Lands End (www.landsend.com) has some great sales. Lands End also puts out an "Overstocks" catalog several times per year. I watch the catalog and buy offseason to get some amazing bargains. If you like classic clothing that wears and wears, you'd like them. They also have housewares and furniture.

i've been aware of some very
difficult situations addicts have found themselves in.

use the term jonesing....it's funnier.

listen i find myself buying armani, ralph lauren, lambertsen-truex and prada.i don't need the stuff but i "jones" for quality clothes. it isn't an addiction.

Let's talk about girly stuff!

The other place I go that DH (just like Patiod's SO,) will say "I know you're not coming back anytime soon": www.bareescentuals.com. The makeup is amazing. It's applied with a brush. You look like a younger and more glamorous version of yourself, it doesn't rub off on everything, etcetera. Bare Escentuals also has really nice body care; lavender's my favorite.
